A respected name in the industry and a successful showbiz career spanning two decades, Kathryn Bernardo has it all. Despite the massive popularity of her daughter, Mommy Luzviminda “Min” Bernardo still prefers Kathryn enjoy the simple things—activities ordinary people get to do on a regular basis.
Her reason? To keep Kathryn grounded.
In a recent vlog, the mother-and-daughter duo gave their fans a glimpse of their personal life—the side that many don’t get to see.
In the video, they stopped by a local ube halaya vendor to buy one of Mommy Min’s favorite Pinoy desserts. Interestingly, ube halaya holds a special meaning for the family.
“Not sure kung alam ninyo ito—kaya ganyan yung skin ni Kath ay dahil pinaglihi ko sya sa ube!” said Mommy Min, referring to her daughter's morena complexion.
Fans also learned about their favorite “after-school bonding” when Kathryn was a kid: going to the bookstore and buying little trinkets to take home. To an outsider, it may be a simple gesture, but for Kathryn and Mommy Min, it’s their love language.
At the end of the vlog, Kathryn gives Mommy Min an AIA insurance plan, the actress’ own gesture of love to the one special lady who has sacrificed so much for her through the years.
Giving her family the best life they deserve has always been ingrained in Mommy Min. That’s why she didn’t hesitate to get a life insurance policy for herself at one point in her life, especially after she and one of her daughters were in a car accident that almost changed their lives. It’s a decision that Mommy Min doesn’t regret to this day.
“Out of that bad experience came something good. Kumuha ako agad ng life insurance,” she recalled.
Because of the peace of mind life insurance gave her, Mommy Min eventually became so passionate about life insurance and protecting her loved ones that she decided to become a financial advisor of what was known then as Philam Life (now AIA Philippines).
She educated herself further, and those around her, and it didn’t take long for Mommy Min to excel at it.
“Then it became a career. Nagta-top ako sa branch namin and, at the same time, nakakatulong ako sa ibang tao. Natulungan ko sila to understand kung ano ang life insurance at kung gaano ka important ito,” she said.
In her one year as a Cabanatuan-based advisor, she became a member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), a select group of financial advisors considered at the top of their field.
It was only when Kathryn’s showbiz career started to flourish that Mommy Min decided to give her financial advisor career a rest. While the experience was short-lived, it was rewarding. She made a lot of people realize the value of securing the future for their loved ones.
That’s why no mother and daughter-tandem can better represent a life insurance company than Mommy Min and Kathryn. They live up to the company’s brand purpose of helping people live healthier, longer, better lives through its wide array of solutions for protection, long-term savings, and healthcare.
Recently, premier life insurance company AIA Philippines (formerly Philam Life) announced that Kathryn and Mommy Min have joined its roster of ambassadors, which includes Gary Valenciano, Solenn Heussaff, Nico Bolzico, and Wil Dasovich.
No one was more excited to have the two as brand endorsers than AIA Philippines CEO Kelvin Ang.
“We at AIA Philippines are excited to welcome Kathryn and Min Bernardo to the AIA family,” Ang said. “Through them, we will be able to reach more people and communicate the importance of our mission of racing against risk to protect every Filipino family and empower them to live healthier, longer, better lives.”
Not only do Kathryn and Mommy Min reflect the company’s values; they’re a living testament to AIA’s power to improve and safeguard the lives of many, regardless of their status in life.
“As someone who has a first-hand account of what happens to a family who was not protected, I can’t stress enough the value of life insurance as an expression of love to those who matter most to us—our families,” Ang said.
“And Min has experienced it, too. This understanding of our mission makes Kathryn and Min the best people to help us spread the word on how love can be better said with AIA,” he added.
