Suzi Entrata and Paolo Abrera have a practical and straightforward approach to their finances.
Suzi tells PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an interview after a lifestyle event in September 2019: "There's stuff that we share. There's stuff that's his and mine. May mga ganoon. Like, whatever I buy with my own money, siyempre whatever that may be is mine.
"But if it's the household money, siyempre that's something that we discuss before we take out. Insurance, kasama na doon iyong tuition, pagawa ng kotse..."
Suzi is thankful that Paolo, who is a motorbike enthusiast, also approaches his personal indulgences with a practical mindset.
"Hindi niya kailangan ng kinse na helmet, except kapag binigyan siya, so dumadami. Sometimes he gives them away. Parang, we try to keep our house as neat as possible," the GMA-7 host relates.
"'Tapos iyong motor niya, kunwari he has three. His friends might have 12, alam mo iyon? And it's true, ha.
"Pero para sa kanya, sabi niya, 'Namamatayan na nga ako ng baterya, e... Tatlo pa lang iyan, a, anong gagawin ko sa lima or anim?'
"He's very practical."
Suzi adds, when it comes to money matters, "Siya ang aking konsensiya."
THE FINANCIAL SETUP THAT WILL WORK FOR THE FAMILY
For Suzi, the entire family needs to work together in finding the best way to handle finances. What works for one family may not always work for another.
"That's a family setup na dapat sila ang nakakaalam," the Kapuso host says.
"Like some families, even modern families that I know of, ang lalake, nagbibigay pa rin ng lahat ng sweldo sa babae...
"It's up to them kung ganoon ang setup nila. Sa amin hindi ganoon, but I respect kung ganoon ang system that works for them.
"If that's something they want to continue as a family, that's their decision. Dapat as a family nila dine-decide iyon."
Suzi and Paolo have three daughters: Leona, Jade, and Nella.
