Since RK Bagatsing began his acting career, he has been setting aside a big chunk of his earnings for the needs of his parents.

He tells PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) it makes him happy that he can now afford to spoil his mom and dad, and he won't have it any other way.

RK is second to the youngest among the eight children of Boy Bagatsing, 75, and Marilou, 55.

The Us Again actor relates after the PEP Live session, "Sa totoo lang, wala ako masyadong savings kasi ini-spoil ko family ko for anything they need right now.

"Of course, I gotta be smart in the future, pero natutuwa ako, e, taking care of my family, especially my parents, especially my dad is 75 years old already.

"I wanna make the most of it. I wanna make him happy. Kasi iyong mga kapatid ko, nasa ibang bansa na.

"So, I've always been the guy, or the son, I don’t know what you call it. Observant kasi ako, e.

"Minsan as simple as kailangan ni Papa ng tungkod, kailangan ni Papa ng comfortable na mattress, kailangan ni Mama ng ganyan.

"Iyan, sinasabi ko iyan sa group na, 'Maybe, guys, you can help me come up with this kasi si Papa kapag nagbabasa ng diyaryo sa labas ng bahay, maganda siguro kung meron siyang rocking chair.'

"Alam mo iyong mga ganoon?"

RK is the third of the siblings to enter showbiz after actor Raymond Bagatsing and former actress Monina Bagatsing.

DATING HIS parents

The ABS-CBN talent says he makes it a point to take his father and mother out on weekends.

He says, "Lumalabas kami tuwing weekend for lunch and movies. You know, get to catch up."

Recently, RK gave parents Boy and Marilou a special treat—a package session with a chiropractor.

The 31-year-old star admits he's a bit bothered that his being an actor may be giving the wrong impression to others.

He says, "Nape-pressure nga ako in a way kasi, parang... merong misconception ang mga tao, now that I am a working actor, na 'Oh my god, laki na siguro kinikita mo!'

"They don't know, I'm still a starting actor. Starting pa rin naman ako, kasi my salary is coming from indie."

Indie films—originally known as independent films—are known to pay lower than mainstream movie rates.

RK says that splurging on himself or on personal indulgences is out of the question, and that his biggest expense thus far is his car.

"Wala pa ako masyado nabibili for myself. As in, iyong auto ko lang talaga nagko-consume ng savings ko or ng kinikita ko.

"And I look forward to finishing that, so I can look into other things like, maybe, my own place? Iyon iyong tinatarget ko talaga.

"I don't have much savings because it's only now that I get to pay my car. I bought a car.

"Tinatapos ko pa siya bayaran kasi, before, talagang nagko-commute ako.

"Previous car ko, I started with a sedan. A Vios. Nung medyo natapos ko na siya [bayaran], binigay ko siya sa daddy ko.

"Ngayon, nagda-drive ako ng mas malaki na for taping... iyon iyong investment.

"Doon ako natutulog, doon ako lahat—as in, buhay ko na siya!

"So, nag-invest na ako on a bigger car para sa damit ko, ganyan. Tinatapos ko lang siya."
