Gabbi Garcia and her sister Alex opened their own music school called Tempo Primo on March 8, 2020, barely a week before the entire Luzon was placed on enhanced community quarantine.
Alex, who has a degree in Music Education, is a head teacher in a school.
Gabbi told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during a phone interview on May 22, 2020, "So, ako, I just helped her invest para sa music school... It's a partnership."
Located in B.F. Homes, Parañaque City, Tempo Primo Academy offers lessons in drums, violin, piano, voice, and guitar.
Their students are "mostly kids," but people of all ages can enroll.
Gabbi and Alex had closed the school because of the community quarantine, and are currently offering music lessons online.
Gabby said, "Right now, ongoing yung online classes namin. You can learn drums, violin at home through online program."
She said Alex has been working hard to make online music lessons interesting and engaging, "Yung sister ko, siya yung drum teacher.
"Kasi she really had to tweak her curriculum, her way of teaching also, para rin maka-adjust.
"Talagang we make use of what we have. Nagre-record siya ng demo.
"Lahat talaga, 'tapos through Zoom yung online classes."
The school also has a program called "MADP" or the "Michael Alba Drum Program."
Gabbi said, "Si Michael Aba, he's one of the top drummers here in the country and my sister trained with Michael Alba.
"You can also apply for that program, my sister will be the one teaching... Parang accredited siya by Michael Alba."
Although Alex conducts her classes through video conferences, she still holds recitals and gives out certificates of completion once a student finishes a course.
