Celebrity entrepreneur Kathryn Bernardo is back in business.

Kathryn and her mom Min Bernardo are partners in the business, and they've decided to reopen all eight branches in Metro Manila of their nail salon, Kathnails by KCMB.

They are currently in the thick of putting in place all the safeguards in their shops and making sure they follow all the safety guidelines, including the use of protective gears, gloves, and masks.

Kathryn told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in this exclusive interview last Tuesday, September 1, "Mag-o-open ang KathNails this month so kakadating lang ng mga face shields dito sa bahay.

"Nag-iisip kami ng creative ways na magiging helpful and safe for the customers. We’re fixing that."

Kathryn, who is presently endorsing Lazada's 9.9 Big Brands Sale, added her nail-salon business has been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

And one of the hardest decisions she and her mom made to keep it afloat is to cut down on manpower.

She said, "Yung normal na pumapasok every day, hindi natin kaya yung ganoon... dahil konti yung mga nagpapagupit, nagpapa-nails.

"So kinausap yung mga tao lang para maintindihan nila na kung kaya naman tulungan, tutulungan.

"Yung iba naman tinry i-keep, like yung mga nail techs."

According to Kathryn, they managed to give financial help to their employees during the early weeks of the quarantine.

But some of their employees had to leave to provide for their families.

She said, "Hangga’t kaya we try to keep them, but given the situation, yung iba kasi siyempre kailangan nila humanap ng ibang trabaho or pagkakakitaan.

"Ayaw mo naman maging selfish na sabihin na hindi dito ka lang. At the end of the day, sabi namin sa kanila, choice pa rin nila na.

"If they want to leave, they can naman. They can come back din kung gusto na nila lalo ngayon kasi ang daming walang trabaho, so ang sakit sa puso."

"Sinasabi naman namin na if they decide to come back, parati silang welcome. Basta choice nila kung anong gusto nila."

Kathryn and Mommy Min opened Kathnails in May 2017.

In a previous interview with PEP.ph, the Kapamilya actress said, "Actually more on kay Mama ito. Parang gift ko sa kanya.

"Gusto ko meron siyang gawin na small business muna, mag-start hanggang sa may gagawin siya with my sisters.

"So more on si Mama yung magiging hands-on talaga dito."
