There is no doubt that since its launch on September 1, 2020, Pinoys just can't get enough of Facebook avatars!
This is the social media giant's newest feature, and it allows you to create digital cartoon-like characters of yourself. You can customize your look—starting with your hairstyle, complexion, facial features, body shape, down to your outfits,
According to Fidji Simo, head of Facebook app, the avatars were created to provide users with more fun and personalized ways to express themselves than just plain texts and emojis.
In a Facebook post dated May 13, 2020, Fidji explains: "So much of our interactions these days are taking place online, which is why it’s more important than ever to be able to express yourself personally on Facebook.
"Avatars enable you to share a range of emotions and expressions via a digital persona that’s uniquely representative of you, so we’re excited to bring this new form of self-expression to more people around the world.
"There are so many different ways you can use your avatar including in comments, Stories, Messenger—and soon text posts with backgrounds, too.
"With so many emotions and expressions to choose from, avatars let you react and engage more authentically with family and friends across the app."
The Facebook Avatar feature was first rolled out in Australia in June 2019, before it expanded to New Zealand, Europe, Canada, USA, Ireland, and India earlier this year.
