Content creators and social media influencers Nikki Huang and Janina Manipol believe there's more to success than just fame and fortune.

At the Rustan’s Beauty Addict #GRLPWR: Make It Happen Facebook event on March 5, 2021, Janina and Nikki gave their thoughts on what makes a successful woman.

For Janina, it's about doing what you love most and making an impact on the people that surround or look up to you.

Drawing from personal experience, she said, "For me, success is... I said this before. It's really just waking up in the morning and being happy in doing what you love.

"I know it sounds cliche and I guess for me, when I'm working, it doesn't feel like work 'cause I'm enjoying it."

For her part, Nikki said a successful woman is someone who knows what she wants in life and is in charge of her own destiny.

The 21-year-old daughter of retail tycoon Anton said, "Success can be defined in so many different ways to different people.

"But if I had to answer off the top of my head, I'd say that to me, a successful woman is someone who understands that she is in control of her own destiny.

"And that she decides her worth instead of other people deciding it for her."

JANINA MANIPOL AND NIKKI HUANG ON WOMEN'S ISSUES

As the world celebrates International Women's Month this March, Nikki pointed out how women continue to struggle against stereotypes set by society.

She said, "I think a very important theme for us to think about—given that it's women's month it's that in society right now, women are held up to so many standards.

"Women have people left, right, and center telling them what to do, how they should look like and who they should be.

"And I think it's important for us as women to remember that our power, our success ultimately come from being able to have agency over our lives, have a say in what we want to do and who we want to become, and really how we define ourselves.

"So I think, on a broad scale, that's what success looks like to me for women."

For her part, Janina shared how her experience as a filmmaker shaped her definition of success.

The 30-year-old filmmaker related, "That idea of building something from nothing and having the imagination and trying to bring those ideas to life and at the same time, being a woman of substance, a woman of power, and just in general, someone who makes a positive impact in the society. So that's success to me."

An integral way for women to achieve great success is education.

This has been Nikki's greatest advocacy, and she is setting an example as a sophomore at Boston University, where she is pursuing a double major in Sociology and International Relations.

She said, "One thing that I really, really believe in is women being educated.

"Because studies show that having as many women in higher education as possible does incredible things for society's social, economic, political, and emotional well-being.

"So taking your education seriously, I believe, is really, really important to be successful as a woman because you understand more about the world, more about your place in it.

"And you're able to think critically and make good decisions for yourself."
