PTV4 host and actress Dianne Medina understands how some parents tend to think twice before spending for themselves; they feel guilty.
She says to avoid the guilt trip, she has set a budget for her personal expenses and occasional indulgences for Joaquin, her two-year-old son with husband Rodjun Cruz.
She tells PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and GMA News in an interview on March 19, 2023. "Actually, we also want to make sure that we balance it.
"That we still get to enjoy shopping for our personal needs and be able to give what Joaquin wants.
"So sometimes, we also shop for toy for Joaquin every now and then.
"Kaya we work really hard talaga so we can give Joaquin all of these, ng mga needs niya like toys, mga ganyan. Splurge ng onti."
As a self-proclaimed "frugal" and "very budgeted" mom, Dianne recognizes the importance of practicality.
"As you all know, I’m a mom already so I also need to be practical and to be able to budget, of course, our money.
"And sometimes, I need permission from my husband as well, if I need to buy high-end pieces."
DIANNE MEDINA ON SETTING BUDGET
Dianne has been buying more clothes lately, but she justifies it's work-related.
The 36-year-old mom says, "[It's] always clothes and shoes, because as you all know, I juggle so much work.
"I’m a TV host, actress, and also I do hosting events. So I usually buy a lot of clothes talaga for my hosting events.
"That’s my budol talaga na I can’t resist, you know, buying new clothes and shoes."
However, these expenditures are kept within a budget Diane has set.
"The budget would range PHP5,000 up for the clothes. But sometimes, it can go lower naman.
"Like, I shop good pieces from online sellers around PHP1,000 to PHP3,000.
"And I also want to make sure that I can use them for long-term.
"I don’t want naman to sacrifice talaga [the quality]. I want to get the value of my money. So I really shop for good quality and affordable pieces."
Dianne also takes pride in sharing that most of her "budol" finds come from online shopping apps and local sellers.
"I do shop online and I support local sellers. Most especially, all the mom-entrepreneurs out there, I usually support their stores.
"I always browse online, on TikTok Live, and sometimes, you know, the platforms that we see online like Lazada, Shopee, Shein, that’s actually the most-talked about online store right now.
"And of course, I’d also like to support Miss Anne Barretto, which is my good friend.
"She just launched her own clothing line, which is called Pink N’ Classy by HeyPretty.
"So it’s nice to know that she empowers every Filipina woman with her clothing line."
