Filipino artisans are making history in the 73rd Miss Universe pageant.
Jewelmer, a presitigious Philippine jewelry brand, was commissioned to create the pageant's new crown called Light of Infinity.
The Light of Infinity crown was launched by the Miss Universe Organization, led by Mexican mogul Raúl Rocha Cantú and Thai transwoman billionaire Anne Jakkaphong Jakrajutatip, on Instagram on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
Gleaming with 23 South Sea Pearls and diamonds, the crown features wave-like designs inspired by the ocean. Its centerpiece, a golden pearl, is imagined as a sun with brilliant diamond rays.

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), ABS-CBN correspondent Dyan Castillejo revealed that the crown took two years to create.
Meanwhile, Jewelmer's Instagram account explained that producing the pearls involved a meticulous process of 377 steps, taking five years to complete.
In the same post, Jewelmer also provided insights into the crown's inspiration: "Caressed by the sun’s rays, the sea generously offers us a magical gift — the rare golden South Sea pearl, the National Gem of the Philippines.
"A miracle created in 377 steps over five years, this treasure is brought to life by the most pristine environment and utmost human care.
"This precious gem embodies the brilliance of our co-existence with Mother Nature. As long as there is a pearl, there is life shining through every moment.
"Jewelmer shares this poetic beauty with the world through the Lumière de l’Infini Crown. The pinnacle of savoir-faire, this one-of-a-kind creation was handcrafted by Filipino master craftsmen, utilizing the traditional techniques practiced in Place Vendôme, the center of elegance in France."
Although additional specifics remain under wraps, whispers on social media suggest the crown's estimated worth is USD 5 million.
The launch event featured all 127 Miss Universe 2024 contestants, including Chelsea Manalo from the Philippines.
Reigning Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua attended, alongside Osmel Sousa, a new "President Advisor" and creative team member.
Filipina businesswoman Olivia Quido Co, vice president of Global Partnerships for Miss Universe, was also present.
Sheynnis' successor as Miss Universe will be the first to wear the Light of Infinity crown at the pageant's finale in Arena CDMX, Mexico City, Mexico, on November 16, 2024, (November 17 in the Philippines).
