It’s only been five months since EA de Guzman and Shaira Diaz tied the knot in August 2025, and the couple is clearly making the most of their first year as newlyweds.

In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), conducted two months after their wedding, EA and Shaira summed up this new chapter of their lives in three words: amazing, challenging, and successful.

Explaining why he chose “amazing,” EA shared how much they enjoyed discovering new places during their honeymoon.

"Amazing kasi yung first honeymoon namin sa Switzerland and Paris, tapos eto, talagang [tini-treat] na namin ito na honeymoon din namin.

"Kasi kita niyo naman, napakaganda ng place, ng resort natin kung nasaan tayo ngayon," he said.

The interview took place at Four Points by Sheraton in Puerto Princesa, which also served as the setting for their honeymoon-themed photoshoot for The Wedding Library’s bridal fair, happening on February 13 to 15, 2026, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Shaira, meanwhile, described this stage of their marriage as "challenging" — but in the most positive sense.

The Kapuso actress told PEP: "Challenging, siyempre, bago lahat sa amin.

"Nakakatuwa kasi every day may nadi-discover pa rin kami sa isa’t isa, at natsa-challenge kami to overcome those things... kung ano man iyon.

"Pero in a good way. Challenging in a good way, not negative."

As for “successful,” Shaira explained that almost everything they had planned, especially their wedding, turned out exactly as they envisioned.

In her words: "Successful because lahat. Lahat ng pinlano namin parang fell into the right places, especially the wedding. Parang nag-unfold siya nang maganda, beautifully, and as planned."

EA DE GUZMAN AND SHAIRA DIAZ: MARRIED LIFE

Now that they’ve comfortably settled into life as newlyweds, PEP asked EA de Guzman and Shaira Diaz about their day-to-day routine as a married couple.

For both of them, not much has changed. The adjustment felt natural, especially when it comes to managing household responsibilities.

EA shared that they never really talk about how to “divide” chores — they simply do what needs to be done.

“Wala naman kaming pinag-usapan na ganun. Kusa na lang,” he said.

Shai agreed, saying it all happens naturally.

ON MONEY MATTERS

But if there’s one major adjustment, it’s definitely financial management.

Both EA and Shaira emphasized that discussing money is one of the most important conversations couples should have before getting married.

“It’s very important, actually,” EA said, recalling the advice they received.

Pinag-usapan namin. Hindi naman siya naging problema.

"Nag-agree naman kami parehas. Both sides na, ‘O, ganito. Okay, ganito. Ganito mangyari.'"

The couple also revealed that they opened a joint account dedicated to house expenses and anything related to family needs — while still keeping their own personal accounts.

According to Shaira, this setup came naturally as well. They agreed on a certain percentage of their individual earnings to deposit into the joint account.

Salary-based din, right?”

EA added, “Kung magkano yung kikitain, mayroong specific percentage na ilalagay namin sa joint account.”

Their personal accounts, meanwhile, remain for individual use.

"At the same time, kaming dalawa, sa isa’t isa, may pang-sarili pa kaming fund,” EA said.

Kailangan i-reward yung sarili mo.”

“And yun yung sinabi namin sa isa’t isa na hindi natin i-aalisin iyon kasi nagtrabaho tayo ng maayos at we’re working hard,” he added.

EA DE GUZMAN AND SHAIRA DIAZ: SECOND WEDDING?

Meanwhile, EA and Shaira shared their excitement about doing another wedding-themed shoot just a month after their real wedding.

For the couple, the experience felt like having a second celebration. This time, with a beach setting.

Shaira said, "Parang yung pakiramdam namin, kinasal ulit kami. May second time around na kasal. Tapos na-experience namin yung beach wedding, di ba?

"Kasi originally, gusto talaga niya garden. So parang at least eto, naka-destination wedding kami.

"So at least na-feel namin kahit papaano na, ‘Ah, ganito pala.’

The couple also noted that this shoot included another “first” for them: a wet, rain-effect concept inspired by a scene from the romantic film The Notebook.

Shaira shared, “First time namin mag-shoot na may rain effect.

EA revealed that it was Sparkle GMA Artist Center Senior Artist Handler Argel dela Paz who suggested the idea.

Very interesting. Yung parang inspired by The Notebook."

The shoot also brought back memories of their actual wedding.

When asked about their most unforgettable moments, Shaira mentioned several, including a funny blooper.

"Siyempre yung paglalakad ko is one na dun. Yung vows namin. Yung ‘I dos’ namin kasi hindi namin… nakakahiya.

"Hindi namin... yung pagsagot namin sa priest, hindi ‘I do.’ Ang sabi namin: ‘Yes, Father.’

"Kasi hindi namin alam na iyon na pala yung part ng ‘I do.’ So if makikita niyo sa mga videos, walang ‘I do.’ Ngayon lang namin nakukuwento ito. So trivia.

"Dapat kasi: ‘Yes, Father, I do.’ E hindi kami tumingin sa response. So yun. Cute no? Saka reception.”

As for EA, two moments remain deeply meaningful to him.

He continued, “Kanina sa interview, nabanggit ni Shaira na nag-usap kami man to man.

Which is true.

"Pangalawa, yung first dance ko with my mom. Kasi siya na lang yung meron ako. Wala na rin akong daddy. So yung dance ko with my mom — na ngayon may asawa na ako.”
