BASH*, the travel lifestyle brand co-founded by Bea Alonzo and sisters Brina and Bea Secosana, is ringing in the Year of the Fire Horse with something special.

The trio revealed to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an exclusive interview that they are set to release a Lunar New Year Collection, marking the brand’s first seasonal capsule for 2026.

BASH*: RUBY RED

Fresh off celebrating BASH*’s second anniversary in November 2025, the founders said this new collection felt like a natural evolution of the brand’s story.

Rooted in travel, intention, and culture, the upcoming line pays homage not only to the festivities of the Lunar New Year but also to how deeply it resonates with Filipino life.

In the exclusive interview, Bea Alonzo said: "Lunar New Year is something we’ve always felt connected to, not just as a Chinese celebration, but as a cultural moment that’s deeply present in Filipino life.

"You see it everywhere: in how people dress, how families gather, and how the idea of a fresh start is celebrated.

"And it felt natural for us to honor that shared experience and tell a story rooted in love, luck, and intention."

Brina added, "After leaning more into Valentine’s last year, we wanted to widen the narrative this time.

"Lunar New Year allows us to talk about love and intention in a broader, more inclusive way—one that feels familiar to how people actually celebrate and mark new beginnings."

Naturally, Bea Alonzo, Bea Secosana, and Brina Secosana gravitated toward red as the hero color of their Lunar New Year collection—a choice that also happens to tie in perfectly with Valentine’s Day.

Bea Alonzo explained: "Red was the natural starting point for us. It’s a color that appears in so many moments tied to luck and celebration—like ang paos, birthdays, and Lunar New Year itself.

"Beyond prosperity, red also represents intention and new beginnings, which felt like the right story to tell as we enter another chapter for BASH*."

Echoing this, Bea Secosana shared that the Year of the Horse also played a meaningful role in shaping the collection.

She told PEP: "We were inspired by what the Horse represents—strength, endurance, and forward movement.

"Those qualities felt closely aligned with travel and with how we envision our community, which is always moving forward, through long journeys and new beginnings."

With red as the hero color and Lunar New Year motifs guiding the collection’s theme, Bea Alonzo revealed the visual inspiration for the campaign imagery: renowned Hong Kong auteur Wong Kar-wai’s films such as In The Mood For Love (2000), Chungking Express (1994), and Days of Being Wild (1990).

"I really love how Wong Kar-Wai captures emotion in motion—those fleeting, chance encounters.

"That’s what inspired Ruby. It’s about timing, choice, and subtle romance, and a reminder that while some meetings may be accidental, the journey that follows is always personal."

LUNAR NEW YEAR COLLECTION

The collection features Ruby-colored Cardholders, Passport Plus wallets, The Daily Sac, and the returning Purse silhouette—all refreshed in the same bold red.

It also includes personalized Packing Cubes in Ruby, rounding out a line-up designed for both style and intention.

When asked about their personal favorites, Bea Alonzo immediately pointed to the standout suitcases.

"The Ruby luggage really stands out to me—it’s glossy, vibrant, and instantly recognizable. It feels like a statement, both visually and for the brand," she said.

For Bea Secosana, the organizers are the highlight of the collection.

"What I love most are the red organizers. There’s something quietly meaningful about carrying pieces associated with luck, especially when you’re traveling or stepping into something new," she explained.

Meanwhile, Brina Secosana liked the personalized pieces: "I really like the packing cubes with the embroidered details. They feel personal and thoughtful in the details, and very different from what we’ve done before."
