Gian Magdangal is presently part of Globe Live musicals, and is recording an album.

A princess and his son are the reasons behind Gian Magdangal’s comeback.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) spotted him at the audience area during the opening of SM Megamall’s The Enchanting Princess: A Holiday Musical Wonder last November 8.

He was taking pictures of the performers on stage.

When PEP.ph approached him for an interview, he said, “They’re my friends. I’m close to them.”

He added, “My girlfriend is actually the princess. So, of course, support the princess.”

Her name is Melissa Bell, an Australian dancer and model.

How did they meet?

“We met in Hong Kong Disneyland. She was a Disney princess in Hong Kong Disneyland, and I was one of the performers.

“We also worked in Universal Studios Japan. She worked in the Harry Potter world. I worked with events.

“And then we came back here. She’s with Okada Manila’s World of Wonders now.”

The way he talked about her, Gian was obviously smitten.

“Yes, it’s serious.”

Most of his contemporaries in showbiz are either engaged or married, when is his turn?

“Hopefully, God willing, mangyari. Hopefully.

“I mean, I wouldn’t be here if not for her.”

Another reason why he’s back in Manila, “My son, he’s already nine years old, and I want to spend more time with him.”

How is his relationship with Sheree, the mother of Haley?

“She’s also happy with her love life, and we both support our son.

“Kahit na hindi na kami, siyempre, parents pa rin kami.”

Does he miss TV?

“Yeah, of course. Kaya rin ako bumalik. I hope I'll work on more projects.

"The pay was good in Hong Kong and Japan. I played Captain Shang [Mulan] and Genie [Aladdin].

“But it was not home.”

Who does he miss among his celebrity friends?

“Naku, recently kami nag-reunion.

“Jay-R, Rocco Nacino, Winwyn Marquez, Aicele Santos…we’re in touch because of social media. Rachelle Ann Go also, but she's in London.

“There’s really nothing like home.”

The mall’s 45-foot giant Christmas centerpiece with two white 16-foot stallions was opened to the public that day, and Gian didn’t miss the chance of having his picture taken.

He continued, "The pay was good. You don't have the artista treatment, but that's okay.

"Walang ganito," referring to the fun and warmth.

The Disney Pixar’s Olaf’s Frozen Adventure will happen from November 13 to December 3, at the Event Center, while the Santa Meet and Greet every weekend will start on November 17 until December 25, at the Mega Atrium.
