Philippine bet Rachel Peters left the country for Las Vegas, U.S.A, last November 11, 2017, as the Miss Universe 2017 competition is about to kick off.
The prestigious beauty pageant is set to crown the “Most Beautiful Woman” this coming November 27, 2017 (Philippine time) in The AXIS at Planet Hollywood, Clark County, Nevada.
Rachel's Instagram post read, “READY and SOOO excited to be wearing the Philippines sash.”
On Day 2, she and the 93 candidates did some camera testing.
In an interview with ABS-CBN’s Tonight With Boy Abunda last November 3, the Filipino-British beauty queen said that she’s determined to bring home this year’s Miss Universe crown.
Asked how she's been coping with the pressure, Rachel said, “My main thing that I’m focusing on is myself and like, you know, I do meditation in the morning and night.
“I remained focus on what’s important and just trying to enjoy the whole thing.
“I think that’s the key, you need to have fun, learn as much as you can, and when you’re really truly being yourself, people can see that it’s genuine and they can see that you are the right person.”
MISS UNIVERSE QUEENS. Miss Universe 1973 Margie Moran and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach both agreed that a true Miss Universe should have “gratitude” and “drive.”
Margie said through an exchange of email with her staff, “One cannot ever change the world unless there is change in one’s self.
“To change oneself, one must be content with life and be thankful for the blessings she already received.”
In a separate interview, Pia added, “She stops at nothing to get things done.
“I think that’s how any person could make a difference and change the world.
“If they don't let setbacks stop them.”
Asked what’s their advice to this year’s representative, Margie said “I would advise the current Binibini Rachel that winning the Miss U is the goal and to aim for it.
“But there is a greater possibility that you will not get it.
“So savor the experience because it is a good story to tell, and something better is meant for you.”
Pia, for her part, reminded that “Miss Universe should be fun, it shouldn't be a heavy burden put on somebody.
“Forget the noise and just have fun!
“A lot of people will try to overload you with information, but remember it’s YOU in that competition.”
