Bianca Gonzalez was 31 years old when she married basketball star JC Intal back in 2014.
During our grandparents' time, marrying in your 30s is already quite late. Hence, we'd often hear our lolo and lola say, "Wala na ang edad mo sa kalendaryo."
But the norm had changed in the recent years.
“I think trend has been that way because more people now are career-oriented,” Bianca told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), referring to how women nowadays prioritize career.
In her case, Bianca spent most of her 20s building a steady foundation for her career as a host.
“I’m all for exhausting that work-work-work in your system, and reaching all the goals you want to reach before getting married,” the 35-year-old mom continued.
“For me ha, now that I’m a wife and a mom, meron akong feeling na, ‘Buti na lang nagawa ko na iyong mga gusto kong gawin sa career ko,’ before I got married and had a child.
“Not because my life stops when you have a husband and a child, but, of course, yung priority mo, sila na.
“So you will have that guilty feeling if puro ka work-work-work [as a wife and a mom].”
Bianca said she's lucky because she had a full life as a single career woman before settling down, and she advised all single ladies to do the same.
“Meeting different personalities, weeding out the boys na hindi pala para sa akin, getting to make mistakes pa in my career and having the time to correct them…
“Figuring out what I really wanted to do…
“Kumbaga na-enjoy ko talaga yung single career woman life ko.
“So when I finally settled down, wala ako yung ‘What if.’
“‘What if nag-yes ako sa work na ito? What if nagkatuluyan kami ng isang guy?’
“Walang gano’n because parang nagawa ko na lahat.
“I am all for enjoying your single life first before getting married. Definitely.”
PEP.ph interviewed Bianca at the launch of one of her endorsements in Makati City.
