Patricia Javier does not like to take all the credit for the success of their chiropractic clinics, which she oversees with her husband, Dr. Rob Walcher.
In less than two years, they have put up two clinics: one in Quezon City and one in Makati City.
And given the growing number of their clients, they are now branching out to Alabang.
Aside from this, Doc Rob has also published a book titled Doc Rob’s Guide to Better Health and Wellness, Volume 1.
"I think it’s always a team effort for me and my husband," Patricia tells PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the book launch.
"I think we are very good partners when it comes to business and in our family.
Patricia also notes the changing attitude towards health.
"I think it’s because wellness is booming everywhere. Sa buong bansa ngayon everybody is aware na with their health na.
If you go to the gym or if you go to chiropractor, it means you’re taking care of yourself, yung pagiging healthy, it’s your wealth."
About the book, Patricia says, "Okay, it’s very simple. It’s five factors of health which is nutrition, exercise, think positive, food, and last is the chiropractic na if you get alignment, everything falls in the right direction.
"The book is like a pocket book na kahit sino puwedeng basahin kahit ng mga bata. And then they can bring it anywhere. It’s a guideline for better health and wellness."
Patricia says she did not accept acting projects so she could focus on her husband's book.
She explains, “Para sa akin perfect timing din ngayon na wala akong ginagawang teleserye kasi I wanna focus muna dito sa book na ginawa namin ni Doc.
"Isa pa, sa tingin ko kasi since na advocacy namin ito, parang I wanna focus first in one project.
She adds about her brief acting hiatus, "Hindi naman namin tinanggihan, ipinagpaliban lang namin muna.
"I think, our next project is gonna be an indie film. Kami na ang magpu-produce. It’s about wellness. Advocacy namin yun. And yung concept, OFW life story, Filipino values, family oriented.
"Ako ang magbibida. Siyempre, kukuha pa ba tayo ng iba? Pero definitely most of my closest friends in showbiz, kasama 'yan."
She continues, "Salamat din sa nag-guide sa amin para magawa yung book, tinulungan niya kami, si Miss Jing Lejano, na siyang naging teacher namin on how we’re gonna finish the book from start to finish."
KEEPING THE ROMANCE ALIVE
Doc Robs accommodates a lot of patients every day, while Patricia has her own activities. Despite this, the couple always have time for each other and for their two kids.
She says, "We always have time for our family, together, especially sa gabi. Pagkain namin ng dinner, papatulugin namin ang mga bata, papanoorin namin silang maglaro sa bed namin and tell you honestly, we still sleep together in one bed with our kids."
Despite the family sleeping on the same bed, the actress notes that their sex life remains active.
Patricia attests on the importance of keeping the romance alive between you and your spouse.
"Oo naman. Kahit sabihin mong pagod, hindi puwedeng mawala. Hindi puwedeng mawala ang sex life with your husband or your wife, kasi that’s how you connect na huwag kayong… pag walang gano'n, nawawala yung pagiging close niyo, or yung closeness niyo, e.
"Kaya dapat… hindi naman kailangang araw-araw. At least, you need time for each other na, at least, tinginan niyo lang, kahit pagod kayo, 'Tara na sa taas.'"
Was there a time that she said no to her husband?
Patricia answers with a smile, "Hindi, huwag kang tatanggi kahit pagod na pagod ka.
She says they already have an understanding when it comes to their sexual needs.
THE IMPORTANCE OF TRUST
We ask, if she had married a Filipino, would her marriage be as successful?
Most of them seloso.
“Sasabihin lang niyan sa akin, 'Did you have fun?
Kaya ako when I go out, I don’t drink as much as possible.
"Pero I can still have fun with my friends. Kaya hindi ako umiinom. Unang-una, nagda-drive ako. So, alam niya na hindi ako umiinom.”
It's not that Doc Rob does not like the night life.
Patricia explains, "Hindi naman. Pero kasi pagod na pagod siya. May mga friends naman siya, pero madalang siyang lumabas to see them kasi mas gusto niyang [to spend time] with the kids, e. Ayaw niya maglalalabas.
