Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now parents to a bouncing baby boy.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the news through their official social media accounts on the morning of May 6 (U.K. time).
The announcement read: "We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019.
"Their Royal Highnesses' son weighs 7lbs. 3oz.
"The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives."
Later in the afternoon, Prince Harry personally accommodated the press to share the news.
The Duke described the moment as "the most amazing experience" he could ever imagine, adding that he "is so incredibly proud of my wife."
He remarked, "How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension."
THE NAME
Because the baby was overdue, Prince Harry said he and Meghan had more time to think about their son's name, which may be revealed within two days.
Prince Harry told the press, "I think we'll be seeing you guys probably in two days' time as planned, as a family to share it with you guys, and so that everyone can see the baby."
On becoming a dad, Prince Harry said, "As every father and parent would ever say, your baby is absolutely amazing. But this little thing... I'm just over the moon."
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they were expecting a child on October 15, 2018.
