It was only last April that Geoff Eigenmann proposed to his girlfriend, Maya Flores.
While many details are still up in the air, two things are already clear: their wedding will happen next year, and their two children will play a role in the ceremony.
"Still waiting, nagpaplano na kami here and there, but nothing concrete yet," Geoff says in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and Cinema News at the mediacon of the upcoming teleserye The Killer Bride held last July 25, Thursday, at the Dolphy Theater in ABS-CBN, Quezon City.
"Ang pinakamahirap for now is to give a certain date, specific date. Napag-uusapan na namin how we want things to be. Tipong how many people, where," Geoff reveals.
Do they already know where they want to hold the wedding?
"May options within the Philippines and mayroon ding options out of the country para maiba naman. Ang gusto namin, definitely out of Manila."
While they may not have a definite date pinned down, Geoff is sure that the wedding will not happen this year.
"Masyado na siyang late for this year. Hopefully, siguro within next year. Gusto ko, 2020, baka puwede naming magamit ang kids namin during the march. Flower girl iyung daughter namin, son will be the ring bearer. We'll see, pag nakakalakad na sila pareho."
Aside from their kids, have they already decided who else will be part of their entourage?
"Different people here and there, but nothing concrete yet. Siyempre, sa amin pa lang naman iyun, di pa namin sila natatanong."
GEOFF EIGENMANN ON FATHERHOOD
Despite the heavy responsibilities that come with being a father, Geoff finds happiness in his new role in life.
"Very, very happy, father of two. Maya just gave birth a month ago so I'm very happy," he exclaims.
"Kulang-kulang lang sa tulog pero masaya naman. Our daughter, the eldest is almost 2, sa September siya magtu-two. And our second born is a month old. Girl and boy sila."
How has fatherhood changed his life?
"Maraming responsibilities, just the fact you are waking up in the morning just to check on them, playing with them during the morning.
"Getting up in the middle of the night to change diapers. Kami kasi as parents, we are very hands-on.
"At first, kapa-kapa. Siyempre, along the way you learn every day kung ano ang dapat mangyari, how things should be. How things unfolded, kung ano ang mga nabago sa akin, nakikita."
Now that he is a father of two, his priorities have changed. For him and Maya, the kids always come first.
"For me, ang focus ko ngayon is my kids. Lahat ng ginagawa ko ay para sa kanila. Para sa kanila na yun, e, di ko na iniisip yung sa akin. Before I make decisions, sila ang una kong kino-consider."
Does Geoff want more children?
If he will have his way, he wants to have more. But he knows that pregnancy takes a toll on a woman's body. Maya must give her body time to heal.
"Sinabihan kami ng doctor na stop muna. She gave birth via CS, kailangang pahinga muna. Ako, kung puwede pa, more."
