Happy news from Comedy Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas: she and husband Gerald Sibayan now have an "embryo" for their upcoming in-vitro fertilization procedure.
"May embryo na kami, yehey," Ai-Ai happily tells PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
The IVF procedure will be done here in the Philippines, and Ai-Ai is taking all the necessary measures to make sure the procedure results in a pregnancy.
"Kaya magbabakasyon talaga 'ko, hindi ko na iri-risk. Kailangang mag-bed rest talaga 'ko."
Did she and Gerald consider conceiving via surrogacy, just like Korina Sanchez and Mar Roxas?
"Ita-try ko muna na ako, kapag hindi kaya, kapag hindi naging successful—but I hope, mabait ang Diyos, alam ko na magiging successful.
"Saka lang ako magre-resort sa surrogacy."
Besides, Ai-Ai believes she can still handle carrying a child for the full nine months of pregnancy because she knows her body is in good condition.
"Healthy naman ako, e, super healthy. Alam ko na kakayanin ko," she says.
She is positive that in 2020, her showbiz career will take a back seat so she can focus on getting pregnant. This is why she has made so many movies this year.
Her newest film And Ai, Thank You will premiere on August 14. The movie is produced by Reality Entertainment and directed by Joven M. Tan.
It was at the film's pocket presscon that PEP.ph and other entertainment press were able to speak to Ai-Ai. The pocket presscon was recently held at AiSian Fusion Restaurant in Ayala Mall Cloverleaf in Quezon City.
"Kaya lahat tinatapos ko na, kahit yung pang-Mother's Day ko, tinatapos ko na ngayon."
She foresees that she will stop working by May 2020, even for her Sunday comedy show, Sunday PinaSaya.
"Paaabutin ko naman hanggang May kasi magpu-promo naman ako. Kasi, patay ako kay Mother kapag hindi ako nag-promo."
How are her kids taking the news that they may have another sibling soon?
"Excited sila," she says.
"Kahit naman ako, excited na ako. Kaya lang siyempre, kailangang mag-work. Marami kasi akong binubuhay. Siyempre, hindi ko naman kailangang iwan ko lahat kay Gerald. Hindi niya kayang siya lang mag-isa. Marami akong binubuhay. Mga yaya ko, driver ko, sino ang magpapa-suweldo sa kanila kapag tumigil ako."
Her husband Gerald already has a private license to fly an aircraft.
Ai-Ai says proudly, "Konting kembot na lang at malapit na."
But Ai-Ai is waiting for the day that he is able to fly a commercial plane.
"Sa commercial sasakay ako," she laughs.
What did Gerald say when Ai-Ai refused to ride a private plane with him as the plane's pilot?
"Okay lang, sanay naman na siya sa akin. Mga friends ko na lang."
