Couples are wont to divide their roles as "good cop" and "bad cop" when it comes to disciplining their kids.

That's not the game of Iya Villania and husband Drew Arellano who describe their parenting style as a balancing act.

Iya said they've always put up a united front especially now that their sons Primo and Leon are at the stage when they are developing their personalities.

Speaking during the Zoom launch of #SayaNgAlagangBabyFlo last February 17, 2022, she opened up about how she and Drew have been taking their turns as disciplinarians.

The GMA-7 actress and Mars host said, "We both have our moments. Actually, medyo balanse, e.

"I used to think na ako yung mas disciplinarian. Pero kapag wala ako sa bahay, ‘tapos siya yung nandito, nakikita ko na he also steps up.

"Dati kasi yun yung joke, e, na parang, ‘Ikaw na yung bad cop, ikaw na yung bad cop…’

"Pero sa totoo lang, nagpapaka-bad cop din siya when he has to so we kind of balance it out.

"Kasi minsan may mga oras din na I’m caught at a really bad time, ‘tapos mas mainitin yung ulo ko so hindi maganda na ako yung mag-handle ng isang sitwasyon.

"When he sees that, and I really appreciate it without me having to say, he will be the one to step in. And he’ll be the one to step up.

"Kapag baliktad naman na nakikita ko naman na siya yung mainit ang ulo ‘tapos ako yung parang mas kalmado, mas okay then, I will be the one to really deal with it.

"So it would really depend dito sa aming household, at least."

KUYA PRIMO

Meanwhile, Iya gushed over her eldest son Primo, who at age 5, has been doing his share of watching over his siblings, Leon and Alana.

She said, "He's so... Natutuwa ako 'cause even if he's just five years old, natutuwa ako when I can see signs of how he is as a kuya .

"He gets worried na, 'Duday, Duday, you're gonna get laglag! Duday, you're gonna get laglag!'

"Kunyare nasa upuan, nasa dining table pero nakatayo. Or kunyare, sasabihin ni Drew that, you know, 'Love, she's holding the ballpen, it's sharp.'

"Yung nakabantay si Primo and he's really a kuya. Nakabantay siya.

"He tries to teach things na hindi pa alam ni Leon. So sobra akong natutuwa 'cause even if he's that small.

"I don't know if it's a natural thing, nagiging natural ba kasi kuya na nga siya, but it's just so wonderful to see.

"Kaya tuloy, naisip namin ni Drew na magkaanak pa, kasi nakakatuwa when we see their dynamics as siblings, nakakatuwa."

Leon, meanwhile. is fast growing to be a loving kuya to Alana, who is lovingly called Duday.

Iya added, "At saka kung paano din mahalin ni Leon si Duday, the way they hug each other, 'Duday, wants to brush teeth...' Sobrang nakakatuwa."
