Parents of children starting their early learning are bound to encounter the usual scenario—of kids, fearful of the new environment, going into tearful hysterics.
But for couple Korina Sanchez and Manuel "Mar" Roxas, their experience with their twins, Pepe and Pilar, on their first day in school was somehow different from usual.
Korina writes on Instagram on August 11, 2022, "MILESTONE: First day in preschool. With classmates and teacher. No yaya and diapers!
"Abawwwww… holding hands pa gid ang duha nga bagets sa car going to school!
"Excited sobra ang kambal and no crying at all when hinatid namin.
"Cant imagine this is the first in MANY YEARS MORE of school. Thank you Lord for the gift."
In a related post days later on August 27, 2022, the TV host uploads an IG reel of the car ride taking the twins to their first day in school.
In the clip, Korina is talking to the kids, checking how they're doing: "Wow! First day of school. Are you excited? With holding hands pa?"
The twins say yes, looking nervous but smiling and nodding.
Korina then reminds, "In school, only English okay?"
To which Pepe, in all his innocence, answers, "In school, only Ilonggo."
Korina wars, "No, you cannot speak Ilonggo in school. They won't understand you. Kailangan English."
She then turns to the girl, "Okay, Pilar? Okay."

Pilar balks, "Nandito si papi."
Korina replies, "Sa school wala na si mama at si papi. Nasa labas lang kami."
Pilar says, "Gusto ko hulat nalang [Gusto ko maghintay lang]."
Listening to the whole conversation, former senator Mar jumps in to reassure the kids, "Mag hulat lang mi sa kotse [Maghihintay lang kami sa kotse]."
Finally, Korina's last reminder: "And then when you want to wee-wee, you say 'Teacher, I want to wee-wee.'"
Before the video ends, Pilar cutely requests, "Gusto ko Mama sa ano ka lang, sa bangko ka lang huhulat."
Korina agrees, "Sa bangko lang ako."
The family matriarch's friends like Charlene Gonzalez-Muhlach, Kakai Bautista, Glenda Victorio, and Alma Concepcion are happy about the Roxas family's new milestone.
