In an interview with PEP.ph, Nico Bolzico admits that, for him and his wife Solenn Heussaff (not in photo), managing two children requires twice the effort and coordination: "We don’t have a specific yaya for any of them, so we need to coordinate that at least one of us is there. Now that it’s two, it’s more difficult."

Nico Bolzico and his wife Solenn Heussaff have been navigating the joys and challenges of parenthood.

But this time around, Nico says, being a hands-on parent is more challenging, what with two daughters, Tili, 4, and Maelys, 1.

He says this to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the Oatside Pocket Festival on April 20, 2024.

Reflecting on his situation, he says:,
"Having a second child, it’s more difficult. Because now it’s two versus two.

"We don’t have a specific yaya for any of them, so we need to coordinate that at least one of us is there. Now that it’s two, it’s more difficult."

IS NICO BOLZICO A STRICT DAD?

To this question, Nico says, "I’m only strict with nutrition, that’s where I’m very strict. With the rest, I’m way more flexible."

Nico is very hands-on with what his children eat. He actually personally prepares and packs the "baon" of Tili, who attends a daycare school.

He reasons, "We try to bring the best nutrients we can to the table. I think that’s very important, especially at this young age.

"So, we... we kind of push a lot of veggies, eggs. We try to have a very balanced diet.

"We make sure she has the fat content, the protein content, the carb that she needs.

"I’m really the one trying to measure her plate, but at the end of the day, sometimes they eat, sometimes they don’t eat.

"So, it’s, you know, parenting is not science, it’s more of an art."

He cites an instance when he added oat milk to Tili's diet, which he thought would be challenging, but she liked it.

Nico recalls, "I mean, she’s a kid, right? Like, every first thing–every time they first try or taste something, they go crazy. That’s what I love about her.

"The thing with Tili is that I can relive my life through her eyes because everything is so special.

"She loved it the first time, actually, that’s one of, for me, the best point besides the whole health angle of what the Oatside bring, is it tastes really good.

"When it comes to kids, taste is very important. You want to feed your kids the best, but you don’t like it, they won’t drink it. And, she does like it."

NICO BOLZICO SAYS TILI IS THE "PERFECT ATE"

Nico has taken notice of Tili's growing maturity, saying, "She’s four and a half, she’s more mature, she can understand more, so it’s easy.

NOOD KA MUNA!

"While Maelys is one year and four months, and she’s in, like, she’s completely dependent logistically, but she has no rationality.

"So, it’s a world domination with her in the house, everywhere, everything. She can do whatever she wants, but she has no rationality yet."

With the Bolzico household centering attention on its youngest at this stage of her early development, how is Tili doing as an ate to Maelys?

Nico boasts, "Very good!"

He expounds, "As an ate, she’s the perfect—that’s the new aspect in Tili that I discovered with Maelys—she’s been an ate, she’s an elder sister, and it’s amazing.

"And they’re at the stage where they’re interacting with each other, when Maelys is always trying to kind of get what’s going on, so it’s great.

"She’s very protective of her [sister], and she’s very proud of her."
