Rocco Nacino has an unwavering commitment to being a hands-on father and a supportive husband.
Despite the demands of his career, the actor prioritizes spending quality time with his son EZ and wife Melissa Gohing.
Rocco shared insights into his real-life roles during an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the grand opening of Old Navy's new store at One Ayala in Makati City on April 26, 2024.
"I’m enjoying it every single day," he said.
The 37-year-old Kapuso actor continued, "I’m taping Sang'gre, at the same time, I’m shooting a movie, and I’m doing a lot of stuff on the side.
"Every time I get to spend with my family, I do, and I make sure that nakatutok ako kay EZ, and, of course, my wife. And we spend time together.
"Today’s extra special because we get to spend it here, and we’re having fun kasi we’re picking out clothes for EZ for the summer.
"And in a few days, we’re flying out to Masbate, for me, because I’m working kasama sila."
ROCCO NACINO: STRICT DAD?
When asked about his parenting style, particularly if he considers himself strict, Rocco explained that he aims for a balanced approach.
In his words, "I’m strict in a way, but hinahayaan ko na masaktan. Hinahayaan kong madapa. I’m not too praning.
"Kapag kunyari nadapa, hindi ako mag-[over react na], 'Ah, okay ka lang ba?!”
"I'll ask him like, 'Are you okay? Do you need help?'"
EZ is now an energetic toddler. How does Rocco deal with his son's "pasaway" moments?
He answered, "A lot of people get pikon, maraming naiinis, at umaabot sa burning point nila.
"But, what I’m grateful for is that, actually, fun fact, I actually teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and I have like fourteen kids sa class ko.
"Ang youngest ko, six years old. So, medyo nahasa na ako sa kulit at tigas ng ulo ng bata.
"Kaya, sabi ko noong dumating si EZ, ay handa na ako magka-baby. Right now, masasabi ko, I’m coping for now."
Rocco acknowledges the disparity between modern parenting practices and his own upbringing, which is also why he remains open to learning about fatherhood as he navigates his own journey.
"It’s different now, how you tackle on parenting.
"So, I’m just being a sponge, kinukuha ko lang lahat ng information na nakukuha ko, and I’m trying it to my son, and, so far, happy kami sa growth and development niya."
