Mothers are mothers.
Who can stop them from being doting, loving, and overly protective?
Who can fault them for having that natural instinct to protect their offspring?
Who can blame them if they're willing to take a bullet for their kids?
In showbiz, some moms have made headlines while defending their children.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) recounts those times mudra went warla (mother becomes warlike) or mudra went crayola (mother becomes emotional) to protect or defend or support their artista children.
1. ANNABELLE RAMA TO POKWANG
Remember when the Kapamilya comedienne impersonated Raymond Gutierrez?
Here's Annabelle's retort:
"Advice ko sa 'yo, Day, ipagpapatuloy mo yung ako ang gagayahin, okey lang. Haping-happy ako.
"Pero huwag mo nang pakialaman ang mga anak ko.
"Minsan ang mga bata, ayaw nilang naaano sila, iba ang mga bata ngayon, e. Masyado silang ano, sensitive. Ayaw nilang pinaglalaruan sila, lalung-lalo na si Raymond."
In case you ask, "Bakit naman po?"
INDAY BARRETTO TO GRETCHEN BARRETTO
Inday's story is quite uncommon.
In 2013, the lady who rarely grants interviews sent a statement to Ricky Lo defending her bunso Claudine, and attacking another daughter Gretchen.
It came about after Gretchen and Marjorie confronted a mysterious basher of Julia on Instagram, and also alluded that it was really Claudine bashing the Star Magic teen star.
Here's an excerpt from Inday's letter:
"Do not call Claudine evil!
"Do not start giving away that title that belongs to you and you alone, now that it's burning your palm and scarring your beautiful face."
CECILE ONGPAUCO TO MARIAN RIVERA
Mrs. Cecile Ongpauco stepped in upon hearing her daughter Heart Evangelista was rumored to have a rift with Marian while they were shooting Temptation Island in Laoag, Ilocos Norte.
When the cast arrived at the airport, Mrs. Ongpauco was there to allegedly give a stern warning to Marian, complete with bodyguards.
Her reported one-liner was enough to cause a controversy back then, and turn Marian and Heart into enemies.
"Stay away from my daughter."
JACLYN JOSE TO ALBIE CASIÑO
In May 2011, Saab Magalona tweeted that a guy she knows slapped his ex-girlfriend, who happened to be her friend.
A fan of Albie Casiño, who, at the time, had just broken up with Andi, brought the tweet to Albie’s attention.
Albie, in his Formspring (a social networking site) account, stated, “So much bullshit. I never hit her. Maybe one of her many boys did. Andi’s a cheater kasi she has maybe 10 guys. Ao yeah nope not me."
Naturally, Andi was hurt, and soon came mom Jaclyn Jose’s defense.
"Andi is not a cheater. What Albie Casiño claims in his formspring account is not true. As her mother, I know Andi best," became part of Jaclyn's long statement.
BING GARCIA ON HER SON PATRICK'S FEUD WITH JENNYLYN MERCADO
Patrick’s relationship with Jennylyn turned sour and bitter when he reportedly stated in a 2008 interview on The Buzz that he’s not sure if he’s the father of then-pregnant Jennylyn’s child.
Following the child’s birth, there have been controversies regarding paternal visitation rights and financial support from Patrick.
His mom came to the defense of her son, and posted a series of statements on Instagram.

NADIA MONTENEGRO ON MARK HERRAS
How did Nadia Montenegro take the news about Mark getting his road manager pregnant while still in a relationship with her daughter Yna?
She continued, "Pero nung haharapin ko na si Ynna, I had to relax. Pero sandali lang yung galit ko.
"The next day, napalitan na ng paghihinayang at konting sakit.
"Siyempre, sobrang minahal namin si Mark. As in mahal na mahal.
"Betrayal is not easy to take and accept..."
DIVINE GERONIMO ON RAYVER CRUZ
The longest and only statement of Mommy Divine on her daughter Sarah Geronimo's love life was published in the March 2011 issue of YES! magazine, where the Popstar Princess' romance with Rayver Cruz was detailed.
Here's one of her strongest quotes for the young dancer/actor:
"Ang lalaki, kung okay siya, willing siyang maghintay. Hindi niya sisirain ang buhay ng anak ko, hindi niya sisirain ang pangarap ng anak ko. Siya pa mismo magsasabi, 'Sige, maghihintay ako.'"
POPS FERNANDEZ "MONKEYS" ISSUE
Pops’s reaction to a remark made by Katrina Ojeda, the mom of Martin Nievera's third son, about her children Robin and Ram, was taken out of context, according to the Concert King.
It happened it 1998, and it was just a "joke."
But the usually-media-shy Pops was not happy about it.
She told Ricky Lo in a 2007 interview:
“I was crying because I was in pain. At the end of the day, even if it was said as a joke or whatever, it doesn't matter.
"I was saying that she [Katrina] should be careful with her words because she, of all people, if it comes from her, it's very touchy because of what she represents in our lives.
“I was upset. I want to make it clear: I'm hurting as a mom. Terribly hurting," she lamented.
How about you? Are you the warla or crayola type?
Would you do and say the same for your children?
