Matt Evans is no novice to fatherhood.
He has three kids, and his youngest is eight months old.
But his major dilemma as a daddy remains: Separation anxiety.
“Sepanx ako kaagad, e. So ayun. Siyempre naghahanap-buhay ako. Gusto ko sana, nasa tabi nila ko.
“Lalo’t maliliit pa sila, minsan naiisip mo, sana nakikita mo talaga yung paglaki nila.”
Last Saturday, September 24, he was up early to bring his family to the launch of Jollibee Collectible toys and JolliDance Showdown app at the 5th floor of Ascot Hotel in Bonifacio Global City.
Smiling, he told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) he’s crossing off an item from his kids’ wish list.
“Iyon ay ang makilala nila ang ating Pambansang mascot. Totoo.”
What's their usual playtime like?
He paused briefly before answering, "Gadgets."
Matt resumed, “Sobra. Etong mismong two years old ko, ma-gadgets na. Meron siyang iPad and hanggang sa pagtulog. Actually minsan, nakakatululugan niya…
“Mahilig siyang manood ng YouTube ‘tapos mga konting laro.”
His advice to parents is to make sure the videos they watch and the sites they visit are kid-friendly.
“Talagang proper guidance lang 'tapos imomo-monitor mo lang talaga.
“‘Tapos meron naman tayong minsan yung sa privacy settings, di ba. So yung gusto nating mangyari, naaayos dun.
“Restrictions din saka ako na mismo gumagawa ng account para yung mga email din, sa akin napupunta para ma-monitor mo.”
But whenever Matt is home, he sees to it he plays with them.
“Yun pa rin ang the best.
“Pag walang work, talagang nasa bahay lang ako.
“Pero kumbaga ako nung bata, mas sobrang outgoing ang lolo’t lola ko sa akin. Parang ayoko ring yung childhood nila, ma-bypass so ini-enjoy ko rin talaga.”
What are the games they usually play?
“Piggy back, oo lahat. Swimming yun yung mga gusto nila, mga staycation. Mahilig sila sa tubig.”

"It’s up to them. Sila po bahala.”
His condition: “Basta mag-aral lang talaga. Focus muna.”
For now, he's happy bringing them to events.
“Yung mga ganito. Siguro pag may mga invitations, kung anong puwedeng gawin. Kasi walang pressure sa kanila,” Matt ends.
