Parenting experts say that part of children's early "training" is letting them do some household chores.

It usually starts with teaching them to throw their trash in the bin, eventually, making them in charge of keeping their toys.

SmartParenting.com.ph enumerated the benefits of assigning chores at a young age.

1. It helps "build a lasting sense of mastery, responsibility and self-reliance."

2. It helps them "have good relationships, achieve early career success and be self-sufficient compared to those who didn’t have chores."

3. According to a study from Harvard University, "chores can teach children how to empathetic and responsive to other’s needs."

Hence, some celebrity parents have been encouraging their children to do gawaing pambahay.

In a previous interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Judy Ann Santos said, "The kitchen is like their playground. They enjoy doing a lot of things."

Her eldest Yohan has been helping her mom and dad Ryan Agoncillo cook and bake.

At 11, one of her accomplishments in the kitchen is she already knows how to make meat loaf.

Cheska Garcia Kramer started passing on one thing she learned as a kid: finding "sense of fulfillment" from doing chores.

Here's an excerpt from the parenting tip she shared via Instagram: "I always tell Kendra this, 'Parents that teach their children well, love their children well.'

"With parenting our kids, we try not to be square so we inject play in the chore they do...

"For instance in the playroom when I ask them to pack away, the rule is the one who puts away the most toys wins.

"It gives them a sense of awareness where everything is placed, they learn how to help each other, and its still fun because its just like play."
