One of the goals of Ruffa Gutierrez for 2017 is to have less public clashes with her mom Annabelle Rama.
Annabelle's consistent issue with her eldest child and only daughter has been the latter's boyfriend Jordan Mouyal.
Annabelle has never liked him.
At the Big White Blowout event of Watsons, Ruffa said, “Naku, my mom naman, you know what, honestly, uhm, I don’t think she will ever change.
"We have a good relationship now kasi I just ignore her pag nagagalit siya or whatever. Nagti-text siya, ay, ay, ay, hay naku, hayaan na lang natin.”
She says each time her mom would rant about Ruffa's love life, she has found a way to restrain herself from answering back.
The mother of two says, "I will only have to think about my girls. Yun lang.
"Now that I have daughters, ayoko namang sagot-sagutin ako ng mga anak ko.
"So I’m thanking Lorin and Venice for I’m being more patient with my mom.
"Kasi, before talagang feisty ako. My god I’m so old na, why can’t I choose the person that’s right for me?
"I should know now, di ba, I should know better.
"But I guess the mom will always be a mom so okay kami as long as, ano, walang mention of love life pag siya ang kaharap.
"So ganun na nga lang.”
Speaking of her daughters, don’t they have plans of entering showbiz?
"Actually kinukuha na nga sila mag-cover sa mga magazines. Sabi ko, ‘Wait, hindi pa summer. Can you wait until summer?’
"Kasi right now, I want them to focus on their studies.
"Kasi minsan, na-i-excite sila with all the offers they’re getting, so sabi ko, let’s wait till after.
"I still want them to focus on their studies ngayon."
When asked to describe them, the actress/host said, “Mahilig silang magpaganda sa sarili nila.
"Alam mo naman ngayon, yung mga bata, pag 12, 13, iba na.
"Kung ako nga 13, medyo advanced na ‘yong isip ko.
"Ngayon, talagang you know they’re actually into...what I like about the teenagers now is they’re very smart, they’re very level-headed.”
She is like a barkada to them, she says. She sometimes brings them to her events, but she has one rule: "No cellphones yet."
The unica hija of Eddie Gutierrez proudly reveals, “I think they’re the only ones in their class na wala pang cell phones.
"Ayoko silang masanay.
"Sabi ko, ‘Mommy didn’t have a cellphone until she was 17.’
"Sabi nila, ‘Mommy, 19-kopong-kopong pa ‘yon. Iba na ngayon.’
"Sabi ko, 'Well, I was able to live without a cellphone until 17. Bakit kayo hindi puwede?'"
This writer butts in, "It’s the age of social media."
Ruffa throws in, “Oo nga, but she’s only 13!
"They can have accounts, but they can access it not with their own cellphones."
