Piolo Pascual's film Northern Lights: A Journey to Love is a parent's touching story. The actor says, "Naka-relate ako sa story in a sense na I'm a father myself and maraming pagkakataon sa buhay ng magulang, especially sa tatay, yung mga ganung bagay. Paano mo sasagutin ang mga conflicts na hindi mo naman ginusto?"

Do moms and dads kiss their children on the lips?

In the case of Piolo Pascual, he considers it a “blessing” that his son Iñigo is affectionate.

“Gaya nga ng sinasabi ko, dun sa mga nangba-bash sa video namin, ang sarap kaya ng pakiramdam,” said Piolo during the presscon for his film Northern Lights at Valencia Events Place on March 20.

What was Iñigo's reaction to the bashers' comments?

"Mas mature pa kaya sa akin ang anak ko. Proud siya run. We never even talk about it. We never talk about it."

Most sons, once they reach their teenage years, do not want their parents kiss them in public, Inigo also went through that stage, according to Piolo.

"Dumaan si Iñigo sa stage na yun. Kapag hinahatid ko sa school, ayaw na niyang magpa-kiss...

"But he’s always been expressive.

"Pero ako, until now, I kiss my mom on the lips. Kasi, ganun kami pinalaking magkakapatid.

"Nagki-kiss kami sa lips. You cherish the moment, you treasure the moment to be physical with your loved ones.

"Ganun ko rin siya pinalaki. Ganun kami pinalaki, affectionate sa isa’t isa."

He just laughed when one of the writers asked about their physical closeness possibly affecting the way girls see them.

"Bakit naman makaka-affect? Gusto kaya ng mga babae yun."

Not minding all the bashers, Piolo is happy about how close they are now considering their long-distance relationship during his son's growing-up years.

"Gaya ng sinasabi ng anak ko, I will always be there with him. Not just for him but with him.

"Noong sinabi ko na, 'Eto, may anak ako.' Hindi ako nagdalawang-isip.

"I would have wanted the same thing with my father.

"Nasa posisyon ka na may anak ka, may anak ka, hindi mo kailangang itatwa, hindi mo kailangang itago, and it’s a blessing."

What were the changes since Iñigo decided to live with him here?

"Kapag nasa States kami, happy moments lang.

"Dito talaga, we get through the nitty-gritty in life and makikita mo na iba talaga ang struggles niya.

"Nakikita ko na nahihirapan siya sa trabaho, but he’s always there, you know.

"It’s a blessing that I get to see him whenever I can.”

Does Iñigo confide in him?

"You know, one thing good about my son, at his age, he's nineteen turning twenty, sobra na yung maturity niya.

"May mga bagay na pinag-uusapan namin, I don’t have to build or dig things anymore, because he’s mature enough to understand.”

Do they talk about girls?

"Yes, I always tell him, kapag may problema, just tell me.

"If there’s anything you want to talk about, we have an open line."

TOO YOUNG FOR LOVE. Contrary to reports, Inigo is not in a relationship.

In July 2016, the young actor admitted to dating Kelley Day.

But Piolo said, “Napagalitan pa nga ako. 'Papa, we’re not together.' Wow! Millennial.”

Given their open communication, does he give him advice about pre-marital sex?

"Well, my most dreaded fear is for him, to one day, tell me na, 'Papa, magkakaanak na 'ko.'

"Huwag naman sana. Bata pa siya.

"I wouldn’t want him to go through the same conflicts that he had to go through with me.

"I’d want him to have a good life, a complete family.”

Piolo was 21 when Inigo was born.

NO COMPARISON TO DIEGO-CESAR. We suddenly remembered Cesar Montano ang Diego Loyzaga, who grew up in Australia, away from his dad.

Recently, Diego posted rants on Instagram about his dad.

Piolo threw in, "You can never compare. I love Diego. He’s a good kid. Si Kuya Buboy din. I cannot compare that.

"That’s not right para i-compare mo ang sitwasyon ng ibang tao.

"I’ll always be a father to my son."
