Danica Sotto and LJ Reyes have one thing in common that bonds them closer together.
They are both happily married to their cager husbands.
Danica has been married to Marc Pingris for ten years and LJ to Jimmy Alapag for six years.
What it is like to be married to basketball stars?
Danica cited her switch to a healthy lifestyle as the main advantage.
She said, "Ako, masaya namang maging wife ng mga athlete.
"Kasi kapag athlete, disiplinado, so nadadamay ka, di ba?
"Parang dati, hindi kami maagang matulog. Ngayon, morning person na kaming dalawa.
"Natututo rin kami from our husbands to be more responsible."
The downside is the unpredictability of their game rehearsals and schedules.
Danica called it the "hassle part."
She elaborated, "We don't know kung kailan kami puwedeng umalis.
"Panalo ba ang team mo o hindi? Out ka na ba o nasa liga ka pa?
"Unlike sa office, magpa-file ka ng leave. Sa amin Christmas Day, may game.
"Kahit Holy Week nga, may practice, di ba?"
Hence, most of their family trips are usually unplanned.
Even then, they haven't been able to avail themselves of the airline promos as they can never tell when the season will be over.
On the other hand, LJ bemoans her husband's busy schedule.
She said, "Jimmy's retired. Kung akala mo, retired na siya, mas maraming time, actually, hindi.
"Kasi ngayon, dalawang teams naman. Before, all his career, Gilas siya, then may home team siya.
"Ngayon, ganun ulit, assistant coach siya.
"It's hard lang with the time kasi yung mga kids, hinahanap nila.
"Silang dalawa, palaging nakasiksik sa side ni Jimmy."
COOL WIVES. According to Danika and LJ, the girl fans of their husbands do not worry them.
Being celebrities themselves, dealing with them is not a major issue.
LJ said, "We talk to them also. We grew up in showbiz, so parang sanay na rin.
"Unlike sa iba na hindi na-e-experience, parang they get paranoid."
Danica threw in, "Parang mas gusto pa nga namin na, at least, may humahanga sa kanila, di ba?
"And siguro nga, since galing na kami ni LJ sa industry na doon na kami lumaki.
"Like mga magulang namin, tita, tito namin parang dun na so parang hindi na kami naninibago.
"Minsan nga, kapag may magpapa-picture kay Marc, kukunin ko pa ang phone.
"Minsan mahihiya pa sila, minsan magpapaalam pa sila.
"'Puwede bang magpa-picture sa kanya?' Ako, go!
"At saka, kapag may nagpapa-picture kay Marc, hindi ako nag-a-assume na kasama ako kasi, moment nila yun, e."
LJ is the niece of Alma Moreno and cousin of Mark Anthony Fernandez, Vandolph, and Wyn Marquez.
Danica belongs to the Sotto clan. She is the daughter of Vic Sotto and Dina Bonnevie.
HAPPY FAMILIES. LJ said the key is to have a clear hierarchy of priorities.
In her case, "I think that both of us... alam mo yung priority mo na God muna and then husband and then kids and then career.
"Madali sa aming mag-decide."
Danica averred, "Tama yung sabi ni LJ, iba kasi kapag may takot sa Diyos.
"Pangalawa, yung trabaho ng isang basketball player, hindi natin nakikita.
"Nakikita lang natin na maglalaro lang kasi 'yan, mababayaran sila.
"Hindi nila nakikita ang preparation period na every day gumigising ng umaga.
"Ikaw nga, mag-gym lang, napapagod na. Imagine, every day mong gagawin yun.
"It's a mental and physical game.
"If ang wife hindi supportive, hindi rin magwu-work, e."
BUSINESSWOMEN. The showbiz career of both Danica and LJ has taken a back seat since they got married.
Danica said it was a crucial choice for them, "Siguro, ang common denominator rin namin ni LJ is, we allow our husbands to shine.
"Hindi kami nakikipag-kumpitensiya sa kanila na parang ganito-ganyan."
But it does not mean they have been idle.
Danica and Lj are hosting Mom Biz, a new show on Cignal TV's Colours Channel.
According to LJ, "Parang nagha-hang out lang kami. 'Tapos yung concept pa ng show, sobrang gusto namin.
"Kasi mahilig kami sa business and pareho kaming hands-on naman."
Danica added, "Kasi parang something kakaiba siya.
"And since kami ang magkasama, parang na-e-excite kami sa fact na yun.
"Kasi di ba, friends din kami in real life kaya hindi na kami mahihirapang mag-adjust sa isa't-isa."
What about their husbands, do they have a say on the projects they can get into.
Her eldest Ian is five, while Keona is two.
Meanwhile, Danica's daughter Caela is four, while her son is eight.
She also misses acting, and there will be time for that. But not right now.
Right now, Danica said, her focus is on her family.
MomBiz airs every Saturday, at 7 p.m.
