Parenting is a never-ending challenge.
And according to Sherilyn Reyes-Tan, the one big challenge she and her husband, former basketball player Chris Tan, have to face over time is catching up with their three children as they grow up.
The children are Ryle Paolo, Lorenz Christopher, and Anya Sabrina
The 42-year-old actress/host said, "Wala naman masyadong challenge kasi mababait naman sila.
“Makukulit, yes, siguro ang challenge is for us to make them listen and follow us no matter…"
A picture of a fulfilled mom, Sherilyn added, “Hindi naman sila nag-aaway nang grabe talaga or seryoso, so wala, pagsasabihan lang.
“Minsan pinagtatawanan, ganyan, palaging busog sila sa pangaral.”
CLOSE-KNIT. PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) spoke with Sherilyn in an exclusive interview after a fashion show presenting Folded&Hung's Summer 2017 collection held last March 24 the Manila Fashion Festival in EDSA ShangRi-La Hotel.
Ryle was one on the models, and his family was there cheering him on, a demonstration of their closeness.
Sherilyn, Chris and the rest of their brood—each with a smartphone— recorded Ryle's walk on the runway.
Anya was spotted holding a personalized sign she made to support her brother.
They beamed with pride as the crowd applauded Ryle on the runway.
Sherilyn expressed, "Siyempre, masayang-masaya at saka kami mismong family, number one fans talaga.
"We're actually very thankful na ang sipag-sipag ng mga fans talaga.
"At saka totoo yung pagmamahal nila kay Ryle and we’re very, very thankful."
Her husband added, "Proud, very proud of what he has transformed to be.
"At saka sana tuluy-tuloy yung suporta, 'wag magsawa."
PARENTAL CONCERNS. Chris is not the biological father of Ryle whom he dotes on as his 'panganay,’ providing him with the love and guidance that come naturally in their relationship.
Ryle is Sherilyn's son with her ex-husband Junjun Santiago.
According to her, she and Chris have no problem communicating with their children, especially with Ryle, who recently joined the showbiz industry.
Ryle is part of the boy group Hashtag and regularly appears on ABS-CBN's noontime show It's Showtime.
“He's already 18, pero not like the majority of kids his age na may sarili na talaga life, siya talaga, he updates us.
“He asks us palagi for opinions, hindi nagde-decide kapag yung point of view namin hindi niya naririnig, ganun,” Sherilyn shared.
With regard to Ryle’s showbiz career, Chris had said, "Whatever's given to him, just do his best kasi we cannot control it naman e.
"So, kung ano yung ibigay sa kanya, basta gawin niya lang yung best niya."
Sherilyn echoed, "That's all we tell him naman, basta may ibigay sa 'yo, just do your best, whether sayaw or kanta.
"And yun yung… he's very competitive kasi, and perfectionist din so gusto niya palaging hundred percent yung ginagawa niya sa lahat ng bagay na binibigay sa kanya."
She advised Ryle particularly, "Always respect the veterans, kumbaga laging magpapakilala, laging lalapit.
“At saka 'wag male-late. Yun palagi."
