Tweetie de Leon is famous as a model, an actress, and a lifestyle personality, but to her, only two roles matter most—being a mother and a wife.
“I really define myself as a mom because when the kids were growing up, I was still pretty much into my career,” she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during a recent interview at the press launch of Organique Acai.
“I was starting up a business which I still have, so parang now, teenagers na sila, I engage more in their lives.
“As the kids get older, parang they need you more, more than they were babies.”
Tweetie and husband Mon Gonzalez have four children namely (L-R) Sabina, 20, Lorenzo, 19, Nicolas, 17, and Alfonso, 12.
Sabina has entered the limelight as a runway model.
The boys have done some modeling stints, too, but they also aspire to be athletes and musicians.
Having two kids who are young adults and two who are teens has so far made motherhood an exciting phase for the 50-year-old model.
Tweetie mused, “Although a lot of people say—and I prove it to be true—that it’s challenging to be a parent to a teenager, I’m enjoying this age.
“Every day is a new day. Every day is a new challenge because, all of the sudden, I have a new set of friends.
“Kaibigan ko na sila, e.
“Nagkukuwento na sila about their day, they get mad at me when they feel they have to.
"They tell me I’m baduy when they think I am.
How does she make this phase exciting?
Instead of asserting her role as the mom, Tweetie said, "they teach me how to be a good parent to them."
She ended, "I also needed to learn many things about parenting."
