Former beauty queen Michelle van Eimeren and her daughters Leila and Sarah Alcasid appeared on the April 20 episode of Kapamilya morning show Magandang Buhay.
For the first time, viewers were given a glimpse of the close-knit relationship Michelle has with her daughters.
Sarah described her mother as someone “sweet” and “lovely.”
She said, “She’s concerned with every thing.
“Like, if you’re worried about something, she’d be there to give you advice and help you along with it.
“And I love that I can talk to her about every thing.
“She won’t judge and she’ll help me figure it out, what to do.
“And I really admire her for that.
For her part, Leila called her mother "my best friend.”
Michelle’s eldest daughter related, “My relationship with my mom has really evolved over the years, obviously, as I’ve grown.
“I’m now becoming a real adult, I guess, so now I’d say that mom is like my best friend.
“I mean, she’s always been like that, but especially now that I’m older.
“Because I can trust her, I can tell her anything.
“Maybe even stuff you don’t necessarily tell your parents.”
LEILA’S FIRST KISS. Just like most moms and daughters, they went through many adjustments.
Back when Leila was 14 years old, Michelle was quite strict.
So when the mom learned her daughter was attending a party with boys in the group, she freaked out.
The Australia mom recounted, “Alala ako siyempre kasi may mga lalake kasama.
“Talagang ngeeee! Ayoko nito!
“Tapos sabi ng asawa ko, ‘It’s okay. You taught her well.’
“Sabi ko, 'Hmm, ayoko na!’”
Michelle’s husband and Leila’s stepfather Mark Murrow picked up Leila from the party.
When Leila got home, she found her mother waiting at the living room.
Michelle remembered her daughter’s look when she saw Leila approaching, “Pag-uwi na niya, hirap siya tingin sa mata ko.
“Sabi ko, ‘Hay, jusko, may nangyari! Ano pa naman, ayoko nito!’”
Leila told her mom she had her first kiss in the party.
But instead of getting mad, Michelle tried her best to keep her emotions contained.
She explained, “Yung reaksiyon ko… Kasi ayoko siya magkaroon ng boyfriend, pero intindihan ko rin na importante talaga na understand yun ng mga nanay.
“You know, we listen to our kids. Tulungan sila, ‘di ba?
“So kung magagalit ako, siyempre sunod mangayari, ayaw magsabihin kapag gagawa niya.
“So biglang iniisip ko, ‘Okay, paano ito?’”
Guess what was the question the former Miss Universe Australia asked Leila?
Michelle resumed, “Sabi ko, ‘Guwapo ba siya? Patingin nga, may picture na ba?’”
Then she segued into the meat of the matter.
“Sabi ko, ‘How did you feel?'
“’Feeling mo you like this boy?’
“Sabi niya, “Not really.’”
The former host/actress then told her eldest the importance of waiting for those right moments in romance and relationships.
“Sabi ko, ‘Hindi ba dapat hihintay mo na boy na parang very close kayo ng pagkaibigan at kilala niyo nang maige, at feeling mo baka siya yung puwede maging boyfriend mo talaga nang matagal."
Lastly, Michelle's love advice:
“Huwag mo ibibigay yung mga ganun kahit sino naman.
“Kahit konting part ng puso mo, dapat binigay mo sa tunay na mahal.”
