Jennylyn Mercado, pictured here with Mommy Lydia, is proud of her son Alex Jazz's achievements: "Nakakatuwa lang na taun-taon, talagang nagiging mas proud pa ako sa kanya kasi ang dami niyang, naa-accomplish, ang dami niyang improvement."

For the first time, Jennylyn Mercado will be celebrating Mother's Day without her adoptive mother Mommy Lydia, who died of sepsis secondary to pneumonia last October 2016.

Since her death, Jennylyn has been missing her very much.

"Namimiss ko siya every day... first mother's day ko po na wala," she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press on Wednesday, May 10, during the pocket press conference of her new primetime show My Love From The Star.

This weekend, Jennylyn will also have an early celebration of her birthday. She will officially turn 30 this May 15.

Jennylyn said, "Baka kumain lang kami at saka baka mag-early celebration kami. Birthday ko kasi sa 15."

What's her birthday wish?

Jennylyn answered good health especially now that she's juggling her time as a mom to Alex Jazz while working almost everyday for her primetime series.

ALEX JAZZ. Speaking of her unico hijo, Jennylyn expressed how proud she is of her eight-year-old son, who received a medal during his recognition day last April 26. The Kapuso actress said it was her first time to walk up the stage and put a medal around his son's neck.

As a mom, Jennylyn's perennial problem has been time management.

At the moment, Jennylyn is happy to see her son bonding with his Lolo Noli Pineda, Jennylyn's biological father, who recently joined their household for good.

Based on her experience, Jennylyn said the key to overcoming all her struggles as a solo parent is to be strong and maintain a positive attitude in life.

She said, "Siguro, kailangan lang talagang... kasi doble yung trabaho nila, doble lahat nung pagod nila, nung hirap nila, emotional at physical.

"So dapat lang talagang maging strong sila and lagi lang maging optimistic and kayanin lahat para sa anak."
