Jolina Magdangal and Mark Escueta are proud of their "terrific" three-year-old son, Pele.

Jolina Magdangal and husband Mark Escueta are working parents with very demanding careers.

Jolina has a daily morning show with ABS-CBN as co-host, apart from her regular appearances in the network's other shows.

Mark, on the other hand, has rehearsals and gigs as the lead singer and drummer of the popular rock band  Rivermaya.

That kind of schedule makes us wonder how they manage to do away with a yaya and be completely hands-on with their three-year-old son Pele.

Jolina tells PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and the press during her contract renewal with Super Twins Baby Pants last May 29 in Tomas Morato.

“Wala akong yaya.

Pele is now in the so-called “Terrible Threes” stage, but Mommy Jolina chooses to name it the “Terrific Threes.”

Far from being a handful to his parents, Pele is just a curious little boy who makes them jump with joy with his discoveries.

“Talagang gagayahin niya yung narinig niya.

As one of the original members of Rivermaya, Mark is proud to say that Pele is developing a love for music.

FULL ATTENTION. For parents working almost seven days a week, like Jolina and Mark, a full day with family is a celebration.

Mark shares, “Mahilig kami mag-declare ng holiday, self-declared.

“Kasi minsan walang work, susulitin namin yung oras.

“Minsan kung may holidays talaga, Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day, hindi rin kami sasabay kasi masyadong maraming tao. So, the day after or day before.”

On normal work days, when they get home, the couple shut out everything else to give Pele their full attention.

The 41-year-old celebrity dad intones, “Sa bahay, halos 95 percent kami talaga nag-aalaga.

For her part, Jolina, her hands full with Kapamilya shows Magandang Buhay, It's Showtime's "Tawag ng Tanghalan," and ASAP, promptly heads home when she’s done for the day.

She says, “Ako kapag nasa work, kung hindi ko kasama si Pele, work talaga.

And the best ‘thank-you’ is when her little boy surprises her with his expressions of love.

Jolina gasps, “Bigla-bigla, talagang ‘I love you, mama’ bigla siya gaganon.

“Kaya para sa ’kin, nakakakilig na bigla lang, out of the blue, magsasalita ng anak mo ng ‘I love you.’”
