Toni Gonzaga on Baby Seve: "It's a challenge to not to give your son what he wants when you know you can give him what he wants."

Toni Gonzaga and Paul Soriano admitted that Baby Seve is sometimes the cause of their tampuhan.

As both hands-on parents, the couple said that they sometimes clash because of their differing parenting styles.

Toni is the disciplinarian, while Paul is "more on the play, fun."

The director related, "I'm very rough with him, and she's like, 'No, he might get hurt.'

"We're just boys being boys."

Toni and Paul joined members of the press for an interview on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, during their launch as the celebrity ambassadors of Gold Seas Tuna Chunks held at The Blue Leaf Events Pavilion in McKinley Hill Village, Taguig City.

While the two don’t always see eye to eye when it comes to their baby boy—as with other couples—both agree to make sure Baby Seve won’t grow up spoiled.

"It's a challenge to not give your son what he wants when you know you can give what he wants,” the TV host-actress confessed.

"It's a discipline not just for our son, but also for us parents."

On the other hand, Toni's Mommy Pinty and Daddy Bonoy like buying toys for their first apo, which is typical of grandparents who love spoiling their grandkids.

"Iyong mommy't daddy ko, kapag kinuha talaga nila, may toy.

"Laging 'Last na iyan, hindi na iyan mabibili.’"

However, Toni hopes Baby Seve won’t get used to all the pampering.

"Ayoko siyang masanay na every time umaalis, merong nabibili.

"Kasi nung bata naman kami, tuwing magmo-mall kami, di naman namin nabibili lahat."

She further emphasized, "Gusto ko, in a way, ma-experience niya iyong ganoon ...

"Hindi lahat ng bagay sa mundo makukuha mo because in real life, hindi naman talaga ganoon."

Paul shared the same sentiment, and related, "Just the other week, we had to put him in a car seat.

“When we travel, every time we go on a car, car seat na, and he cries all the time.

"He wants to go to us, and, you know, traffic, you're on traffic, and he's crying.

"We both want to get him, but we need to make sure he's safe.

"Yung mga gano'n.

How does that make them feel?

“It breaks your heart, but we have to accept it."

Despite the occasional disagreements, Paul and Toni have come to better appreciate each other because of their son.

Toni said of her husband, "I never truly and fully understood how much I love Paul until I saw him loved our baby.

"Dun ko parang na-realize na si Seve ang nagsemento ng pagmamahal ko kay Paul.

"Nakita ko kung paano niya minahal si Seve, minamahal si Seve, inaalagaan so mas nag-grow iyong admiration, respect, and love for him as a partner."

The first-time mom also reveals how being a parent has made her appreciate the little things in life. Even a simple trip to the arcade with Baby Seve filled her with wonder, she said.

"It's like you're seeing the world for the first time again through his eyes.

"I've never enjoyed watching a baby ride an arcade that much my whole life.

"Di ko alam na kaya akong paligayahin nang sobra-sobra nang manood lang ng baby na nakasakay sa arcade."
