Ruffa Gutierrez knows that raising teenagers is no walk in the park.
So it’s important for the former beauty queen to know what they’re doing.
One of her house rules: “No locking of rooms.”
At the Time To Renew event of Watsons, she said to the press, which included PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal): "They're enjoying their own rooms, but sabi ko sa kanila, wag sila mag-lock.
"So alam ko pa rin ang ginagawa nila sa room.”
She recently lifted her “no gadget” rule though.
"My girls—Lorin is already fourteen, Venice is twelve, turning thirteen this September,” she told this writer.
“Phone has its uses sa school, and so long as I get to monitor pa rin what they do, that’s important.
“As I said, I gave Venice my old phone.
“I trust that she will use it responsibly,” the Cosmo Skin ambassador said.
How about boys? Do her girls talk to her about their crushes?
Ruffa said Lorin and Venice are “very honest.”
She elaborated, "You know why, kasi nowadays, usually the courtship and dating, it’s much younger, di ba?"
Ruffa reveals about this about her childhood under mom Annabelle Rama: "So, naalala ko nung araw, nung fourteen ako, pinipingot ako ng mommy ko, yung tenga ko.”
Now that it's her turn to care for her own daughters, Ruffa says she does not spank them, she talks to them.
"So, sabi ko, ‘Girls, I just want to make sure you guys use your brain.
"You know, nagpakahirap ako, nag-sacrifice ako para mapaaral kayo kahit ako lang mag-isa.
"So gamitin niyo naman yun sa pag-aaral niyo.”
She underlined her “no boyfriend yet” rule.
"Wag kayong ma-in love right away.
"Sabi ko, ‘You can fall in love anytime, any day. Wag lang maaga.'"
The often-frank Ruffa, true to form, also says to her two daughters: "I want you to learn from my mistakes."
