Showbiz couple Kaye Abad and Paul Jake Castillo revealed to family and friends that they are expecting a baby boy.
The gender-reveal party, organized by Aprica, was held at Grillers Steak House in Cebu this afternoon, October 8.
“I'm really happy kasi I really wanted a boy first.
"Siya [Paul Jake], gusto niya girl kasi feeling niya mas responsible kapag girl,” said Kaye in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other showbiz reporters who attended the party.
Asked how many kids they plan to have, Kaye answered, “Ako, gusto ko two. Siya gusto niya three kasi parang bitin daw kapag two.
“Parang walang referee kapag dalawa lang, so good luck. One down, two to go.”
At 35, Kaye is thankful that she and Paul Jake, 32, didn't have to wait longer to start their own family.
HEALTH ISSUES. The Kapamilya actress related that she was initially worried about getting pregnant because Paul Jake is an active triathlete.
It got to a point where she asked her husband to stop his regular training.
Kaye recalled, “I got scared, so I said stop muna.
"Nagre-race din sila, 'tapos long distance, 'tapos under the sun pa.
“E, gusto na niya talaga magka-baby after the wedding. So sabi ko, 'Baka ikaw ang may diperensiya. Stop muna ang training.'”
Paul Jake butted in, “So, December, nag-stop ako ng training. Sabi niya, 'Baka ikaw ang dahilan? Mababa ang sperm count mo.'
“So, nag-stop ako. After the wedding, nag-try, pero wala, wala.
Ayun.”
Kaye and Paul Jake got married last December 2016 in Cebu.
PRESSURE. The former Tabing Ilog actress admitted that at first she subjected herself to a lot of pressure to have a baby.
When they went back to their normal life, “I guess nawala yung pressure na gusto na naming magkaroon ng baby," Kaye said.
“Sabi niya, 'Bahala na. Kung mabuntis ka, mabuntis ka. Kung hindi, by next dalhin na raw ako sa Singapore, pa-IVF [in vitro fertilization] na.
“Nabuntis ako noong hindi na kami pressured.
“Yun din kasi sabi ng doktor, 'Don't pressure yourself kasi the more na ma-pressure kayo, mas may stress.' Hindi raw talaga mabubuo.
“Kaya some couples parang ten months pa bago magka-baby. Luckily, four months lang, 'tapos nabuntis ako.”
She conceived their first child just a few months after their wedding.
“Akala ko rin hindi na ako mabubuntis kasi yung edad ko, so blessing,” Kaye said.
ON PARENTING. PEP asked Kaye and Paul Jake how ready they are to become parents.
"Siya, strict parent, for sure.
"Sabi niya, he doesn't regret daw kung paano sila pinalaki ng parents niya kasi he grew up to be [a good person].'
