Bettina Carlos considers suddent exit from her longtime weekly cooking show Idol sa Kusina a blessing in disguise.
The 26-year-old celebrity mom said that since she left the show, she has more time for her six-year-old daughter Amanda, whom she fondly calls Gummy on social media.
“Ngayon ko nare-realize na, 'Shucks, seven na siya next year. What happened, anak? Nagtrabaho lang ako, ano na nangyari?'
“Sometimes, mayroon akong feelings na parang ang laki na ng anak ko.
“But I'm so grateful na it happened at this time na I know it's not yet too late.
“Kasi, kahit na lumalaki na siya, bata pa siya. I know that I can spend time with her, and I can really spend the time when she still wants me to be her friend,” Bettina related to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in a recent interview.

It's no secret that Bettina has been raising her kid alone, and it's not easy being a mother and a father at the same time.
"Siguro the number one thing that I can advise to single moms is for them to focus on their role.
"What is your God-given role as a mom?"
For her part, Bettina has made sure her being a provider will not get in the way of her being a mom.
“You're a mom, so your focus must be taking care of your child and raising your child.
“I know it's hard that, 'Ah, I also need to be the provider, I also need to be the father.'
“That's true, I also went through that, but you also have to trust the Lord."
But this doesn't mean all single women should resign from their work.
The host clarified, “Of course, you have to provide also. I also work for my daughter.
"But I never lose sight that my focus is being there for her and taking care of her.
“So even if I'm working, if she asks for my time, I drop it and I give her my time.
“Kasi I am first a mother before a father, before a provider. So ang focus ko talaga is siya.”
How does she do it?
She said, “I pray that I'll be able to discern how to manage my time well.
“It's really challenging but, you know, there's really nothing impossible with the Lord.
“You just really have to pray, 'Lord, how do I do this? How do I go about it?'
“Even with the kind of work or number of hours spent, you also have to pray about that.
“Ang importante, yung anak mo talaga.”
