Singer-actor Franco Laurel can't wait to meet his fifth child with wife Ayen Munji-Laurel.
Ayen is now on the last few weeks of her pregnancy, and is waiting for her baby's arrival.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with the 44-year-old theater actor last October 24, at the 12th anniversary party of The Zen Institute at Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Pasay City.
"We're looking forward to the arrival of our baby Lucia," he told PEP in an exclusive interview.
Franco continued, "I'm so excited, we're all excited. We're all anticipating the birth of baby Lucia.
"We just had a baby shower and, you know, we're preparing the baby's room now.
"We see the baby's things so parang yun, we're just very, very excited."
Franco said he's very much ready for the challenges of becoming a dad again.
The singer already has two daughters with Ayen named Angia, 15, and Sofia, 3.
He is also a stepfather to Mariella and Hasan, Ayen's older kids from her previous partner.
The singer said, "It's not hard 'cause, you know, because I have a three-year-old daughter.
"Parang kailan lang, it's been a little over a year na she stopped sleeping sa crib.
"It's like second nature to us now, taking care of our upcoming baby. Our fourth child right now is only three. Parang ano lang, it's like riding a bike. We never forget."
We asked why Franco and Ayen chose the name "Lucia" for the third daughter.
Franco explained, "Lucia means graceful light so being the youngest in the family, she will bring so much light and joy in our home so that's why we chose the name Lucia."
AYEN'S PREGNANCY. In a previous interview with PEP, Franco admitted that they weren't expecting Ayen to get pregnant again.
The singer further noted that his wife's pregnancy is a lot more delicate this time.
He said, "Yung first trimester kasi, sa lahat naman ng anak namin, yung first trimester ang maselan. Yun ang medyo nahirapan siya.
"Nung taping ng Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin, nung nagte-taping sila, ang laki ng ipinayat niya."
Franco continued, "Right now, she's just really resting. She's 45 years old so it's not as easy as it was before.
"You know, there are some adjustments that she has to go through with regards to this pregnancy.
"That's why she had to leave the teleserye she was doing, Ikaw Lang Ang iibigin, because it was taking a toll on her body."
He ended the interview by thanking ABS-CBN for letting Ayen take her leave.
Franco said, "It was very nice of ABS-CBN na bigyan si Ayen ng panahon na magpahinga.
"And then, pagkapanganak niya, I'm sure babalik siya to work on another teleserye."
