Just like any parent, Luigi Muhlach is still figuring out how to be the best kind of dad to his children.
He and his wife Patricia Petil have three kids: Alejandro, 7, Adrianna, 6, and Anya, 1.
As a dad, Luigi would describe himself as a bit of a disciplinarian.
“I’m very ma-discipline sa kanila, but sobrang lambing ko rin,” the 30-year-old chef told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the press event for SM Men Plus at Conrad Hotel last December 5.
“Ano naman ako, yung the dad that I want to be… Happy naman ako kung paano ako sa kanila.
“I’m there for them all the time naman.”
Watching his kids grow up, Luigi is thankful that Alejandro, Adrianna, and Anya are one tight bunch.
“Ang cute lang, tatlo sila, talagang sobrang close nila kasi nga yung age gap nila.
“So talagang they don’t need friends anymore, sila yung mag-barkada.”
UPS AND DOWNS OF BEING A DAD. Even after three kids, Luigi doesn't consider fatherhood easier at this stage.
“Oh no!” the son of Aga Muhlach and Janice de Belen quickly reacted.
The presence of social media and the Internet always pave the way for some surprises.
He said, “Siyempre, growing up, meron na silang bagong natutunan.
“Lalo ngayon yung Internet, sobrang grabe na talaga.
“So, parang, masyadong napapaaga yung exposure nila sa kung anu-ano.
“So, at six years old, parang ako may 18 na—hay, my gosh, iba na sila mag-isip!
“Kaya na nila akong paikutin araw-araw, ganung bagay!
“Pero sobrang sweet naman nila.”
As a mischievous kid himself growing up, Luigi knows a thing or two when his kids are messing with him.
“Nakakatawa lang na nakikita mo sila talagang pinapaikot ka, e, 'tapos ako, alam ko.
“Ang cute lang.”
Abd what's the best thing about being a dad?
“Sobrang saya lang,” he remarked, “When you wake up in the morning, ang gulo nila.
“Ang saya lang every day.
“Kaya kapag wala ka sa bahay, sobrang lungkot kasi ang tahimik.”
