Nikka Martinez-Garcia had an emotional year.
The first half of 2017 was heart-wrenching.
The wife of Patrick Garcia was three months pregnant with their supposed third baby when she suffered a miscarriage.
Nikka revealed the unfortunate news last March 6.
But the second half of the year ushered in a new ray of hope for the Garcia family as Nikka found herself bearing another child in her womb.
The mother of Chelsea, 4, and Patrice, 1, could still “vividly” recall her emotions when she found out about her pregnancy.
Nikka told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during one of her baby showers last October 15, “I was surprised because I did not expect. Actually, after my miscarriage, parang I said, 'I’ll focus on my health and being a mom to my two girls.'
“But God had other plans at biglang nagkaroon agad!
“So I consider it such a blessing.”
Nikka became much more protective of her current pregnancy.
“I think everyone who goes through a miscarriage mas nag-iingat, mas nagiging careful ka din…
“Konting aches, konting cramps, we are more alert. We are more matanong sa doctors.”
She also wanted to be more certain of the good news before sharing it.
Thankfully, Nikka is already on her 39th week of pregnancy.
“I wouldn’t trade [motherhood] for the world.
“Mahirap sa mahirap, challenging siya.
“Every child is different. It’s a new experience. It’s unique each time, but I still wouldn’t change it for the world.
“The good always outweighs the challenges.”
“YOU ARE NOT ALONE.” Reaching out to fellow moms who also lost their baby, Nikka acknowledged that nothing could possibly console their hurt.
She said, “There will be nothing that I can say to comfort you, nothing I can say to make things better.”
But Nikka offered her words of hope, “I promise you na you are not alone.
“Kapit lang kay Lord, kasi iba.
“Kapag si Lord yung involved at kapag gusto ni Lord, yun yun e.
“Yun yung the best!”
