Melai Cantiveros admitted that she experienced postpartum depression after she gave birth to her second child with husband Jason Francisco in April 2017.

Melai and Jason have two daughters—Mela, 3, and Stella, nine months.

The 29-year-old Magandang Buhay host made the revelation in the January 14 episode of ABS-CBN weekly magazine show Rated K.

“Para akong baliw, totoo talaga yun, para akong baliw.”

Postpartum depression is different from postpartum blues. The former is a serious condition, and must not be taken lightly.

According to BabyCenter.com, "the feelings of sadness or despair are so powerful that they prevent you from being able to do your daily tasks, such as caring for yourself and others..."

It can develop anywhere from a few weeks to a year after delivery, but it's most common in the first three months postpartum.

In the case of Melai, she said she was able to overcome it eventually.

Melai also had it after her first pregnancy.
