Actresses who gave up showbiz career for family

Nanette Medved and Donna Cruz were in-demand stars in the 90s. Both are now happily married, and have kids.


While a lot of moms are also career women, these stars chose to leave the limelight and focus on their respective families.

Some were even at the height of their stardom .

Thanks to social media, their fans still get glimpses of their life away from the camera.

Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez is presently the mayor of Tacloban City.

But before trying her hand at politics, she was a full-time mom to her kids with politician Alfred Romualdez, whom she married in 1998.

Her last movie was Bagamundo (1996).

Nanette Medved-Po was an in-demand leading lady in the 90s. She played the iconic role of Darna in 1991.

In June 1999, she left showbiz for good after marrying business tycoon Christopher Po in South Africa. They have two kids.

From time to time, she appears on television to promote her socio-civic projects.

Mikee Cojuangco tied the knot with Dodot Jaworski in July 1999.

That was also the year she did the movie Kasangga: Kahit Kailan, where she played her last female lead role.

Before that, she averaged at least one movie since 1994, the year she entered showbiz.

From time to time, she would make guest appearances. But her main role now is being a wife and a mother to three boys.

Donna Cruz was a box-office movie star, a prime-time TV actress, and a multi-platinum singer when she left showbiz in 1999, the year she gave birth to Isabella Adriana, her eldest daughter with Dr. Yong Larrazabal.

She is now a mother of three.

Rica Peralejo's last appearance on TV was in 2013 via Maalaala Mo Kaya.

She married Christian pastor Joseph Bonifacio in 2010, and gave birth to Philip Nathaniel in 2014.

In an interview with the defunct Kris TV, she said, "Nag-isip-isip lang ako na parang if I want a quality life, family life muna at least for the first few years.

"Dapat hindi muna ako mag-showbiz.

"Puwede naman pagsabayin kaya lang it has to be clear to me na that's what I really want."

When Nikki Gil  tied the knot in November 2015, she hinted at retiring from the business by having a "mahabang-mahabang bakasyon."

These days, she's happy with her life as Mrs. BJ Albert and as a mom to Baby Finn.

Vanna Garcia is now a mom of three boys.

After giving birth to her eldest son in 2007, she considered going back to showbiz.

Eventually, she decided to just focus on motherhood, and finish her Interior Design course.

Iwa Moto has been a full-time mom since she gave birth to her daughter with Pampi Lacson in 2013.

Before this, she had done a lot of remarkable contravida roles.
