Leyte Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez says constant communication and remaining close to Juliana help her decode her teenage daughter.

As adolescence is a crucial stage in every child's life, it is when he/she needs parental guidance most.

For Lucy Torres-Gomez, having a constant communication with Juliana makes it a lot easier.

The Leyte Representative said she's not really worried that her daughter, Juliana Gomez, is now a teenager.

"I actually like where I am now as a mother," Lucy told (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an exclusive interview last Monday, May 28.

"I think that the years I've invested in my daughter, spending time with her, I'm really reaping because we have an open relationship.

"I'm really not worried about her growing up and all the things that come with growing up like the boys coming, knocking at our door... I feel that it's very normal."

Lucy also revealed that she and her husband, Richard Gomez, have different parenting styles.

"Si Richard is more chill when it comes to Juliana, trying out new sports or new things.

"My upbringing kasi is very sheltered and si Richard naman, he's very outgoing, he was allowed to do all sorts of sports.

"I think, everything we become as parents is really rooted on how we were brought up in each of our homes.

"I learn from Richard, he also learns from me, so it's really team work, balancing out... and also me, learning also from my child." caught up with Lucy at the culminating activity of Balik Saya design competition at the National Museum of Natural History, a project of Manila 5th District Representative Cristal Bagatsing.

MOTHER-DAUGHTER TALK. Lucy said she and Juliana talks about the latter's crushes.

How does her daughter open up to her about these topics?

"Casual lang, we're not very restrictive at home really," the 43-year-old celebrity mom answered.

"Why make something that's perfectly normal and nice, why see it as something bad or wrong or malicious?

"I always tell her lang that, 'Don't make your world so small, you're so young.'

"She's only 17 and there's so much ahead of her. She doesn't need to make a decision now.

"So I just say, 'All your friends are welcome at home...'

"I'd rather that they stay at home than her going out and me not knowing where they are."

MARCO. Last April, Juliana chose former Pinoy Big Brother teen housemate Marco Gallo to be her escort at her school's prom.

According to Lucy, "I've met Marco many times and he has been nothing but respectful and nice.

"And I'm very glad that he was the one who took out Juliana to her prom.

"'Cause I know that they had a good time. Their pictures were so cute. They look so cute together.

"I tell Juliana kasi, 'Somewhere down the road, when you're old already, you'll wanna look back at times.

"And you wanna see pictures. And you wanna be able to smile when you remember that time that you had.'"

She added, "Marco's really nice, he's funny, and he's such a cute boy."

What about Juliana falling in love, how does Lucy feel about that?

She said, "I'm not scared of anyone ever falling in love.

"Falling in love is such a beautiful thing."
