Ynez Veneracion on being good friends with ex-boyfriend Mon Confiado: "Oo, puwede pala yun."

Yes, it's possible to be close friends with your ex-boyfriend.

Ynez Veneracion, who is still in touch with Mon Confiado, can attest to this.

The two were in an off-and-on relationship for nine years, until they decided to part ways for good in 2009.

"Naging mag-best friend kami," the actress told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an exclusive interview held at a restaurant in Greenhills, San Juan.

"Oo, puwede pala yun. Siguro hindi applicable sa marami."

Her unica hija Princess Keilah is even close to Mon.

She said, "Kasi nga palagi kami nagkikita ni Mon, ayun nagkapalagayan 'yan.

"Ayun, tawag niya, ‘Daddy Mon, Daddy Mon.’ Yun, napamahal na.

"Minsan si Mon, hinihiram, kasi si Mon wala ring anak."

She and Mon almost had a kid, but she miscarried. It happened in 2006, just before their first breakup.

Ynez recalled, "Namatay. Namatay. Nakunan ako. Ang nangyari, hindi nabuo. Parang bugok daw.

"At noong nagpa-check up ako two months, may heartbeat. Nung nagpa-check up ako three months, nawala daw yung heartbeat.

"Bakit nawawala?

The father of Keilah doesn't get jealous of Mon?

"Hindi. Hindi. Wala naman kaming pinag-uusapan. Pag nag-uusap kami mas more on [sa bata]."

MOTHERHOOD. The 37-year-old actress is like a barkada to her seven-year-old daughter.

When asked if she is sweet as a mom, she replied, "Ay, sobra. Sobra!"

Motherhood to her is "masarap na mahirap."

Masarap kasi malambing. Lalo na babae."

She has also learned to save for the future of her daughter who goes to an exclusive all-girls school.

"May bangko iyan, e, kapag meron akong extra money."

When asked about the supposed father—Maguindanao Governor Esmael “Toto” Mangudadatu—Ynez's lips were sealed. The only thing she could say about him was that he has been a good provider.
