Jaycee Parker is glad she has a good relationship with her stepson Hubert Aguas.
Hubert is the son of Angeles City Councilor Jericho Genaskey Aguas with his former wife, the late actress Isabel Granada.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press before her wedding last August 19, Jaycee said, "Okay lang, para kaming magkaibigan, parang barkada lang kami ni Hubert."
The former actress gave Isabel full credit for raising Hubert well.
She continued, "Mabait kasi yung bata, maganda yung pagpapalaki sa kanya ng kanyang mother kaya sobrang madaling samahan. Napakabait."
For his part, Jericho did not have a hard time explaining the set-up to his son.
The politician recounted, "A few months lang nung si Jaycee ay tumira sa amin sa Angeles, agad naman niyang tinanggap talaga.
"Nagpapasalamat nga ako sa anak ko kasi he's very much supportive and agad niya minahal [si Jaycee].
"Mas close pa nga siya minsan kay Jaycee. Meron siyang minsan pag mga crush-crush niya sa school.
"Kay Jaycee niya kinukwento, hindi sa akin."
Hubert echoed what his dad said.
"Medyo mas naging comfortable po ako sa kanya. Probably the fact na she's a woman, probably mas nakiki-chismis ka sa babae."
On his dad's marriage to Jaycee, the 15-year-old celebrity kid remarked, "I'm very happy, very happy po for him. It feels very great.
"Medyo tanggap ko na rin naman din po, and I expected this to happen din naman..."
HUBERT'S SPEECH
Early today, August 22, Jaycee posted a shout-out to her stepson in an Instagram post, which she captioned, "I love you so much, Hubert."
She also shared the touching speech that Hubert delivered at their wedding, where he stood as his dad's Best Man.
Here it is:
"First of all, let’s all have a toast for the newly-wedded couple. Cheers or in Tagalog, 'Tagay.'
"Di ko akalain na magiging best man ako sa edad na 15 years old, and it’s an honor.
"God is amazing for granting these two people the gift of marriage, it truly is.
"It’s been mga four years ata na magkasama sila and now they’re married, as simple as that.
"Nakaka-proud makita si Papa sa altar na naghihintay lang pero naisip ko rin, 'Sanay na siguro siya,' pangalawang beses na siya tumayo nang ganyan, e...
"Pero joking aside it makes me really proud, actually baka nga maiyak ako, e, hahaha joke.
"Pero after all he’s been through, he got back up piece by piece, managed to leave all that in the past, and make it to this day, this special day.
"But of course, he wouldn’t have been able to do that without his beautiful, caring, and ever so loving partner...
"I thank you, Tita, for being there for Papa, you’ve done so much for me and Papa. You are the most positive person in the house.
"Ikaw lagi nagpapasaya sa 'min. We love you very very much.
"So let this day bring many great great blessings to you both.
