Cristalle Belo is strict about her "no gadgets near Baby Hunter" rule at home.
Hence, if the hardworking managing director of Belo Medical Group is not accepting calls or responding to messages sent via social media and text, she is most likely with Hunter.
At the launch of Montblanc 1858 watch collection, she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), "That's one of the adjustments I had to make after giving birth.
"Aside from spending more time at home, I also spend less time on gadgets whenever I am with him—meaning, no laptop, no cellphone.
"He has my full attention. I am 'present' as a parent.
"Hunter has made me more efficient at work, so I can be with him earlier, and I won't have to open any gadget when I'm with him."
In a separate interview held at the ABS-CBN Ball in Makati Shangri-La last September 29, Cristalle reiterated, "It's also a good discipline for me na parang I'm not on my phone, I'm with my baby.
"I like that. It's good."
Meanwhile, there's another reason behind her rule.
In the same interview, the daughter of Dra. Vicki Belo said, "We don't allow cellphones around Hunter... we're very, very strict because it can fry his brain. Radiation, di ba?
"No laptops, cellphone, no blue light—that's why I haven’t brought him out of the house. I just bring him to my mom's house, so talagang it's hard."
According to FQmagazine.co.uk, radiation can affect our health in two ways: a thermal effect and an oxidative stress effect.
1. Thermal effect occurs when an "electronic device is in close proximity to our body," such as when we are talking on our mobile or putting the laptop directly on our lap.
Research has shown that a "15-minute phone call" can "increase the temperature of our heads at an average of 1.21 degrees Celsius."
2. Oxidative stress effect is caused by "exposure to serious amounts of ionizing radiation (like that released from our wireless electronic devices)."
Research has shown that this can potentially lead to "insomnia, muscoskeletal pain, negative effects on brain function, fatigue, and at even more dangerous levels, serious illnesses such as kidney disease, arthritis and neurodegenerative disorders."
Going back to Baby Hunter, are Cristalle and husband Justin Pitt going to regulate their son's presence on social media?
Justin, who was also present at the launch of Montblanc 1858, replied, "Yeah, we already decided he’s not going to have his own social media account because he's a baby and then as a child, we want to give him the best opportunity for him to be, I guess, you know, to be a real baby.
"We are also hoping he won't have any questions that might accumulate from the outside world, so we already agreed, he' not going to have his own…"
Cristalle threw in, "I think he gets enough exposure from Scarlet Snow."
Scarlet is Cristalle's sister.
Justin said it's going to be "their plan for the time being."
He added, "But we’re proud of our baby, so we’re going to post about him on our Instagram accounts."
