Donny Pangilinan is son to Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan and Anthony Pangilinan, and he comes from a clan of performers.
His mom and his grandparents—Tony Ferrer and Imelda Ilanan—are actors. Gary Valenciano is his tito, and Sharon Cuneta is his tita.
The young actor bid his time before entering showbiz. First, he focused on his studies and basketball; he was even a varsity player.
But it didn't take long for him to charm the netizens. In 2016, his photos went viral, and he got featured on PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and various websites.
In 2017, he decided to give showbiz a shot and became a MYX VJ.
Even when he started getting busy because of his showbiz commitments, Donny remains a loving son and brother—and he's not afraid to show it.
Remember when he took the bunso of their family, Solana, out on a date? His vlog of their one-on-one time broke a million views.
And just recently, he made a surprise visit to his sister Hannah in Australia, where she's studying.
His mom even calls him, her eldest son, the "second man of the house."
Now it's Maricel's turn. In this video, he accepts a challenge from Globe At Home: pull off a Mother's Day surprise in just 10 hours.
Most of us now watch TV via our digital devices, and Donny is no different. As a Globe At Home subscriber, the singer-performer gets six-month access to DisneyLife, Fox+, HOOQ, Amazon Prime Videos, and iFlix. This was a big help in executing Donny's surprise at-home movie date with Maricel.
And because Globe At Home has speeds of up to 100Mbps (depending on the area), Donny was even able to stream the movie via Globe Streamwatch powered by Roku.
Because of that strong connection, Donny was able to show his love and appreciation for Maricel in a simple but memorable way.
He recreated a moment from his childhood: He and his mom would build forts inside their home. Donny also didn't need to leave the house to buy flowers for Maricel.
Always remember that expressing our love for our family need not be grand—it just needs to come from the heart.
This Mother's Day, treat your mommy, nanay, and lola with a Globe At Home subscription, so you can create wonderful memories without breaking your budget.
