What Megan Young and Mikael Daez have so far shown on Instagram are just snippets of their adventures in Iceland.
And they're more than enough to entice their followers to visit the Nordic island, which is known for its picturesque landscapes with volcanoes, geysers, hot springs, and lava fields.
But if you have plans of going to Iceland—where the climate is cold, windy, and cloudy for most of the year—the number one tip of the couple is to bring appropriate clothes.
Here's an excerpt from Mikael’s lengthy post on Instagram, "I'm a gangstah. She’s dating me. But we are VERY cold in this land of ice. We’ve been here for 36 hours already and we’ve had to purchase so many extra layers because we underestimated the cold. The craziest thing is, one of the locals said that today is a ‘happily warm’ day…?Regardless, we’re having fun layering up in this weather…"
On the other hand, based on Megan’s post, the cold weather became bearable after finding the right outfits.
“Day 1 of our Iceland tour. We didn't know what to expect with the weather. We knew it would be cold - but that's about it. We weren't sure with the gear we needed for our hikes so we decided to ask around. Everyone we asked was so helpful. From giving us a run down of the base layers we needed to what kind of material our clothes needed to be. After a day of going around, I can happily say that my toes are warm and I don't need to worry about the cold."
MUST DO: TRY A HOT SPRING
Aside from Blue Lagoon, the country has a lot of light blue, milky waters with the perfect 38-39°C temperature.
The actor said don't be daunted if the "wind is blowing like crazy and the temperature is around 3 degrees celsius."
He and Megan stripped down and jumped into a "super cute mini hot spring" at seven o’clock in the morning.
How was it?
Mikael exclaimed, "It’s the best feeling in the world."
MUST SEE: THE NORTHERN LIGHTS
On their second day, at the Volcano Huts Porsmork, a remote location, Megan caught "a little bit" of the northern lights, which usually appear from August until late April.
The former beauty queen recounted, “Just as we were heading to bed, someone noticed that there was something in the sky. I quickly went out in the cold and took a couple snaps with my phone. This is the best I could do with my phone but to me it's probably one of the most memorable photos of this trip. I didn't think we'd even see a little bit of the northern lights and many people advised us that they might not even show at all. So this is definitely a treat for our trip to Iceland."
Their “Sunset hike” was also not bad. Not at all.
MUST VISIT: BLACK BEACHES
It owes its color to volcanic explosions. You should not also miss the basalt columns.
And to the coffee lovers like Mikael and Megan, these were suggestions from their followers.
cherrielouvilladolid: Visit Kaffifelagid in Reykjavik. They serve THE BEST COFFEE in Iceland. Oh and don't forget to get your pastries from BRAUD & CO
hatsfromrho: must try - cafe babalu in downtown reykjavik! @meganbata @mikaeldaez
But the best part so far: Megan has "found her courage" to explore new things.
Mikael said his girlfriend, whom she nicknamed "Bonez" used to be "scared of evrything."
?He continued, "Over the years, a crazy fofo kept trying to take her on adventures. Jumping cliffs, climbing mountains, eating bugs and uncooked fish were some of the many things that Bonez refused to do. Eventually, she would give in and take the leap of faith. To her surprise, she enjoyed (and fell in love in the process LOL). But more importantly, she found the courage in her to try out new things. And now, she willingly leads the crazy fofo to the next great adventure. ?
?"Having courage doesn’t mean you don’t show fear. It’s being able to try things out despite your fear. As you can see in this photo, she climbed the mountain and over came her fear. Unfortunately, she forgot to look up and admire the view HAHA :P But it’s cool, I got the photo to show her what she missed. #IGotchuBonez#IkawBahalaSaClimbAkoBahalSaView”
