A global pandemic is no match for Filipino creativity.
Sultan Kudarat native Alvin Toñedo Martin decided to go on a "quarantour," following the advice of President Rodrigo Duterte: "Puwede kayong magbakasyon diyan lang sa bahay. Ikot-ikot muna kayo sa bahay niyo, baka may hindi pa kayo napupuntahan."
The quip was made during his announcement on March 12, 2020, when the President placed the National Capital Region under "community quarantine" from March 15 to April 14 to help contain the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Alvin uploaded a photo gallery entitled Home Quarantine Kemerut on his Facebook account, and shared his "quarantour" experience at home.
He wrote, "Challenge Accepted Melo Lang! [emoji] Maraming Salamat po President sa pagkakataon na makapag-travel sa loob at labas ng bansa este sa bahay pala sa loob ng isang araw. Jetlag akeeez.
"Chos Naku, virus lang pala makakapa-travel sakin. San nga ba ako napadpad??? Check it below [emoji]
"P:S- Virus ka lang, eksenadora to. No ka! [emoji]"
In just five hours, his post has garnered more than 21,000 shares and 28,000 reactions.
With the help of a friend, Alvin let his imagination loose in 31 photos, and wrote witty and funny captions for each.
For this one, Alvin said he's "waiting for my 12 midnight flight to LAX @ Mabuhay Lounge of Philippine Airlines."
And when he's about to board the plane...
Alvin went shopping at "Neiman Marcus store," which Heart Evangelista "recommended" to him.
His full caption: "Exclusive Shopping of my favorite signature bags at Neiman Marcus Store. Thank you so much Heart Evangelista for the recommendation. Chos."
But before "flying out of the country," Alvin sought the help of celebrity stylist Liz Uy to "prepare his OOTDs."
He wrote, "Need some #OOTD for my meeting with Yoon Se-Ri and Captain Ri. I should look presentable. Thank you Liz Uy for styling me. (This was before my flight at Greenbelt, Makati)."
In the "Philippines," Alvin went to the "Babuyan Island"...
"Villa Escudero Coconut Plantation, Tiaong, Quezon..."
and the "white sand" beach of Boracay, among many others.
Outside the country, Alvin saw succulents and cacti at "Randburg, Johannesburg, South Africa."
He went to visit the "Raffles Botanical Garden, Dubai..."
He also experienced "the cold and the snow never bothered me anyway in Norway..."
Martin also made a bonfire in "British Columbia, Canada"...
...and was left speechless by the "Hanging Garden of Babylon."
Alvin was able to visit all these and more just by hanging out at home.
