Erik Santos stands by Rufa Mae Quinto through thick and thin

Through thick and thin, balladeer Erik Santos will stand by his girl, comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto.

“Totoong tao kasi siya [Rufa Mae] e,” Erik says in a press conference launching his new CD, Your Love—a cover album under Star Records featuring hit band songs from the 1990s.

Erik admits he finds it difficult dealing with the intrigues involving Rufa Mae. But what keeps him going is how his ladylove fights for their four-month-old relationship.

“Sobra niya ako ipaglaban,” Erik tells YES! Online in an exclusive interview after the press launch. “You can feel naman na pure and genuine ang nararamdaman ng tao when you’re talking to her, when you’re with her, when you’re with that person every day of your life. Nakikilala mo. Alam mo naman. Mararamdaman mo naman yun.”

Some camps have downplayed their relationship as a publicity stunt.

Despite all the flak, Erik says he and Rufa Mae take it all in stride. “We talked about it pero hindi ganoon kami apektado,” Erik stresses. However, Erik says he prays hard for strength. “I really pray hard and siguro tulong na rin talaga ng Diyos kasi di ko malalampasan ito without his help e,” Erik adds.

Erik says Rufa Mae is the person he would marry when the time comes. However, he adds their relationship is still growing a day at a time.

“It’s too soon,” Erik says. When you are in a relationship, kung mag-stick ka sa relationship mo, kailangan siya na yung iniisip mong mapapangasawa mo.

Erik says he dedicates his Your Love album to Rufa Mae, who is being tapped to appear in the music video of the song, “All That I Need,” the only original track.
